New George Clooney Movie Fails To End His Dismal 12-Year Rotten Tomatoes Streak

The Boys in the Boat continues a grim Rotten Tomatoes streak for director George Clooney. The new movie is based on the 2013 nonfiction book of the same name by Daniel James Brown, about a crew of University of Washington rowers who competed in the Summer Olympics in 1936. The movie stars Callum Turner as working-class rower Joe Rantz and Joel Edgerton as coach Al Ulbrickson, alongside an ensemble cast that includes Jack Mulhern, Sam Strike, Alec Newman, Peter Guinness, and Luke Slattery.

Rotten Tomatoes has aggregated the first reviews for the The Boys in the Boat movie a week and a half ahead of its official release date. Out of 24 reviews, the movie has been deemed officially Rotten with a score of 46%. While its score could fluctuate as its release approaches and more reviews are added, at the time of writing, it continues George Clooney’s dismal streak of Rotten scores for his directorial features that has lasted for over a decade, with his last Fresh score being for 2011’s The Ides of March.
