With the Five Nights at Freddy’s movie just around the corner, many people are searching for clues and hints for what will be included in the upcoming film. With 13 total FNAF games, eight being part of the main franchise with five spinoffs, there’s a lot of story and content to get lost in. The creator of Five Nights at Freddy‘s dropped what, at first, looks to be a simple free-to-play 2D side-scroller called FNAF: The Movie: The Game, but actually turned out to contain hidden spoilers for the upcoming Five Nights at Freddy’s movie. Upon beating the game, which is actually named Freddy in Space 3: Chica In Space, people can view scenes at the end of the game from what looks to be from the upcoming Five Nights at Freddy’s movie that releases on October 27, 2023. The scene is further confirmed by an unlisted video on YouTube made available via Universal Pictures.

The nearly 10-minute scene, which comes at the very end of the FNAF: The Movie: The Game made available on GameJolt, shows the recognizable security monitor setup from the games, as different scenes from the FNAF movie play as the monitors glitch out. One scene shows the security guard, played by Ryan Reinike in the movie, trying to escape the possessed animatronics. There are also several scenes with Christian Stokes, the actor who plays Hank, intercut throughout the video.

In the FNAF: The Movie: The Game ending scene, Springtrap’s appearance in the Five Nights at Freddy’s movie is all but confirmed toward the end of the 10-minute video. At the very end, the security guard takes his attention off the security monitors for a Springtrap jumpscare. Though only on the screen for a few short seconds, the moment is truly terrifying for those who have enjoyed the video games.

Springtrap, a withered and twisted form of Spring Bonnie, is the main villain in Five Nights at Freddy’s 3. Possessed by the series’ main villain, the serial killer William Afton, the character plays a pivotal role in the game’s narrative and lore and has been central to the plot of various iterations of the game.

Scott Cawthon Co-Wrote The FNAF Movie

Freddy Fazbear in Five Nights At Freddy's.

In a Screen Rant interview with Emma Tammi, the director of Five Nights At Freddy’s, it was revealed that Scott Cawthon had a lot to do with tying the film back to the original game, which clarifies how this clip was added to his Chica game. According to Tammi, “I will say Scott Cawthon was our real guiding post for which Easter eggs to include.” She goes on to state, “…we would bring some ideas to the table and see if he thought it was a good idea.

Notably, however, Cawthon has been out of the limelight for some time. In 2021, Scott Cawthon announced that he’d be retiring from game development over backlash surrounding political donations to several alleged problematic politicians, including former President Donald Trump and other far-right candidates. In response to the discovery of these donations, Cawthon was doxxed, and he and his family received threats.

It seems that the anticipation for an FNAF movie has got Cawthon involved with the series again, even if it may be in a somewhat limited capacity. Five Nights at Freddy‘s the movie releases on October 27, 2023, and will star recognizable actors like Josh Hutcherson of The Hunger Games and Matthew Lillard, who will be playing the mysterious Steve Raglan.
