New DCEU Crossover Supports Black Adam vs. Suicide Squad Theories

Agent Harcourt, who has previously appeared in The Suicide Squad and Peacemaker, is returning for Black Adam fueling the notion of a larger crossover. A new official Black Adam promotional image reveals that Jennifer Holland will reprise her role as Emilia Harcourt in the upcoming DCEU film, further confirming that Black Adam will have major ties to the rest of the universe. Between Amanda Waller and Agent Harcourt, Black Adam is already strongly connected to the Suicide Squad corner of the DCEU.

With Dwayne Johnson teasing that Black Adam will change the hierarchy of power in the DC universe, crossovers between Black Adam and other established DCEU characters will likely happen at some point. Considering how Black Adam connects with the events of both The Suicide Squad and Peacemaker through the appearances of Amanda Waller and Emilia Harcourt, a Black Adam vs. Suicide Squad fight cannot be ruled out. In what form that would happen is difficult to say, but given how the DCEU’s Black Adam is set to be more of an anti-hero than a villain, he would be the perfect adversary for the Suicide Squad to face.

Following The Suicide Squad’s great reviews yet weak box office due to the pandemic, the Suicide Squad franchise will need some reinvention before it returns to the big screen. In fact, Peacemaker sees the end of the Task Force X audiences had seen in Suicide Squad (2016) and The Suicide Squad, thus leaving the future of the Suicide Squad movies up in the air. A Black Adam vs. The Suicide Squad style movie would be an instant event film, as it would pair Black Adam against the most unusual group of opponents possible.

Black Adam is already telling a story about a group of superheroes, the JSA, taking on Black Adam, but a Black Adam vs. The Suicide Squad story could still bring something different to the table. The fact that both Black Adam and Task Force X are far from being traditional heroes makes it so that a Black Adam vs. The Suicide Squad crossover could be unlike anything the DCEU has done so far, and it could even be a Rated-R movie.

Is Black Adam More Powerful Than The Suicide Squad?

Black Adam is far more powerful than any iteration of the Suicide Squad – and that is what makes a potential Black Adam vs. Suicide Squad crossover so interesting. Some of the best comic book stories involving the Suicide Squad feature Task Force X facing heroes and villains who are more powerful than them, which leads to highly creative fights and unpredictable outcomes. For example, the Suicide Squad faced the Justice League in the 2017 comic book Justice League vs. Suicide Squad, an unusual confrontation that will also happen in the Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League game.

For the change in the DCEU’s hierarchy of power to happen as teased by Dwayne Johnson, Black Adam will have to fight other villains, heroes, and anti-heroes. The Justice Society of America will be Black Adam’s first major opponent in the DCEU, but they will likely not be the last. In the long list of DC characters Black Adam could fight in a movie, the Suicide Squad is a strong contender considering that Agent Harcourt and Amanda Waller are in Black Adam.
