New Buildings Animal Crossing New Horizons 2.0 Should Add

Given the recent release of the 1.9.0 patch to Animal Crossing: New Horizons, an eventual 2.0 update to the game seems almost inevitable. With this potential release comes the opportunity for Nintendo to add in new buildings that fans have been eager to visit.

Despite featuring almost 400 villagers and a host of new gameplay mechanics such as DIY recipes and crafting, New Horizons has drawn some criticism from players for lacking in terms of content. The removal (and in a few cases slow re-introduction) of staple characters, features and furniture items from the game disappointed long-time fans of the Animal Crossing franchise. For some, the game’s holiday events aren’t enough to generate continued interest in New Horizons.

Recently an alleged leak has revealed a potential expansion coming to New Horizons‘ islands sometime soon, and such a large update could signal the release of an expansion pass for Animal Crossing’s latest entry. But currently Nintendo has made no announcement regarding an island expansion or a 2.0 update to Animal Crossing: New Horizons. This doesn’t stop fans from speculating about the introduction of new villagers or the addition of long-awaited structures to the game, however.

Buildings That Should Be Added To New Horizons: The Roost

Typically located below the museum, The Roost is a café where players could purchase coffee and talk to the barista, Brewster, in previous Animal Crossing games. In some cases, players could even get a temporary job as a barista, allowing them to make orders for villagers as well as special visitors. This gameplay feature added new mechanics to the game and gave fans more opportunities to learn about their favorite characters, which is why it should be added in a New Horizons 2.0 update.

Buildings That Should Be Added To New Horizons: Post Office

While Animal Crossing: New Horizons does allow players to send and receive letters, it lacks a formal post office as was present in other games. The three pelicans who run the building are also missing from New Horizons. Adding the post office into a new Animal Crossing update would not only provide a new area for players to visit – as well as a more logical place to send letters from – but could also feature the return of these characters. Similar infrastructure, such as the police station, could be added as well.

Buildings That Should Be Added To New Horizons: Observatory

While Celeste can still be found wandering the island during meteor showers in New Horizons, she isn’t a permanent resident of the town like Blathers is. In previous games, Celeste could be found on the top floor of the museum, where she ran an observatory. There, players could view the stars and even create their own constellations. Adding this feature to New Horizons could allow for further customization of the island by letting players change the night sky. Potentially, players could even visit Celeste to receive predictions about when their next meteor shower might be.

These buildings would give the player’s island a better sense of infrastructure, allowing fans to feel like their development of the previously deserted island has real weight within the game. The construction or upgrading of new buildings would also provide players with new goals, allowing for even more longevity within Animal Crossing: New Horizons.
