This weekend, Netflix will bring a documentary series about espionage, a drama series based on an animated show, and the second season of an animated series about dinosaurs. As the coronavirus pandemic continues, streaming services keep housing many movies that couldn’t get a proper theatrical release, while studios delay the release dates of many others. In addition to giving a home to those movies, Netflix still has a long list of original content to add every week, along with licensed content to expand its catalogue.
Last weekend, the streaming giant added the French comedy-drama The Intouchables, the dramas An Imperfect Murder (The Private Life of a Modern Woman), A Monster Calls, and Radium Girls, the fantasy movie Hook, seasons 1 to 3 of Henry Danger, and season 5 of The Magicians, along with the documentaries Crack: Cocaine, Corruption & Conspiracy, Night Stalker: The Hunt For A Serial Killer, part 3 of Disenchantment, and the action movie Outside the Wire. This weekend, on the licensed content front, Netflix will welcome the crime thriller Homefront, the psychological thriller Sightless, and the comedy Friendsgiving, to add some balance to this week’s releases.
As for original content, subscribers will get to enjoy a documentary series about espionage through the years, a drama series based on a Nickelodeon animated series, and season 2 of an animated series from the Jurassic Park universe. Spycraft
Your dose of Netflix documentaries of the week comes in the shape of the docuseries Spycraft. Through eight episodes, Spycraft examines the different ways in which countries have spied on each other and gathered intelligence for decades. With the help of stock footage, reenactments, and interviews, the series examines different espionage methods – from covert operations to poisoning enemies to more modern (though still dangerous) ways to gather information about the enemy.
Fate: The Winx Saga
Netflix’s Fate: The Winx Saga is a drama series inspired by the Nickelodeon animated series Winx Club, created by Iginio Straffi. It follows the coming-of-age journey of five fairies attending Alfea, a magical boarding school in the Otherworld where they must learn to master their powers while navigating love, rivalries, and the monsters that threaten their very existence. Starring in Fate: The Winx Saga are Abigail Cowen, Danny Griffin, Hannah van der Westhuysen, Elisha Applebaum, Freddie Thorp, Precious Mustapha, Sadie Soverall, and Eliot Salt.
Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous – season 2
Season 2 of the animated series Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous is now available to stream on Netflix. Set before, during, and after the events of Jurassic World, the show follows six teenagers who become stranded on Isla Nublar after various dinosaurs escape their habitats. Season 2 will pick up right where season one left off, with Yaz (Kausar Mohammed), Darius (Paul-Mokél), Kenji (Ryan Potter), Sammy (Raini Rodriguez), and Brooklynn (Jenna Ortega) hiding from dinosaurs as they try to communicate with the mainland.
