This weekend, Netflix is welcoming season 2 of the adventures of a Swedish detective, season 2 of a comedy TV series, and a new entry in a classic horror movie series. The coronavirus pandemic continues, but cinemas around the world are still open and welcoming many of the movies that had to be delayed – however, there are many others that studios are still choosing to release on different streaming platforms. The world of streaming hasn’t lost any force and continues to offer a safe source of entertainment, and in Netflix’s case, it ensures its subscribers always have something to watch by adding new licensed and original content every week.

Last weekend, Netflix added the drama The Kindness of Strangers and the comedy-drama St. Vincent, along with part 4 of Disenchantment, the miniseries Inventing Anna, and the rom-com Tall Girl 2. This weekend will see more new licensed content, with the addition of the animated movie Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, the action crime thriller Blackhat, and the anime movies One Piece: Episode of Alabasta – The Desert Princess and the Pirates and One Piece: Episode of Chopper Plus: Bloom in the Winter, Miracle Cherry Blossom.

As for original content, the streaming giant will bring the second season of the adventures of a Swedish detective, season 2 of a comedy series starring Steve Carell, and the newest entry in the Texas Chainsaw Massacre franchise. Swedish detective Kurt Wallander is back with a second season subtitled Killer’s Shadow. Kurt Wallander (Adam Pålsson) is found adrift and uncertain of the future following his exit from the police force, but an opportunity to rejoin the Major Crimes Unit arises when a new Superintendent, Samuel Osei, takes on the leadership. Wallander accepts the offer and is tasked with what seems to be a straightforward case: a hit-and-run outside a nightclub. However, when the victim is found to be connected to an infamous murder case handled by Frida Rask (Leanne Best) eight years ago, Wallander quickly suspects that there is more to this incident than meets the eye. Determined to uncover the truth, he refuses to back off even when the investigation leads him to the door of those who could end his career in a heartbeat.

Space Force is a workplace comedy created by Greg Daniels and Steve Carell, and it centers on a group of people tasked with establishing the sixth branch of the United States Armed Forces: the United States Space Force. Space Force season 2 picks up with General Naird (Carell) and his underdog team having to prove their worth to a new administration while dealing with interpersonal challenges.

Simply titled Texas Chainsaw Massacre, it’s a sequel to the original movie and set several decades after the events that made way for the legend of Leatherface. Texas Chainsaw Massacre follows Melody (Sarah Yarkin), her teenage sister Lila (Elsie Fisher), and their friends Dante (Jacob Latimore) and Ruth (Nell Hudson) as they head to the remote town of Harlow, Texas to start an idealistic new business venture. Their dream soon turns into a waking nightmare when they accidentally disrupt the home of Leatherface, the deranged serial killer whose blood-soaked legacy continues to haunt the area’s residents, including Sally Hardesty (Olwen Fouéré), the sole survivor of his infamous 1973 massacre who’s hell-bent on seeking revenge.
