Netflix: The Best New TV Shows & Movies This Weekend (December 31)

This weekend, Netflix is bringing the fourth season of one of the platform’s most popular TV shows, the return of a fan-favorite show, and a drama movie based on a book. Streaming platforms continue being a main source of entertainment for many around the world, as even though cinemas are open again and working, many studios continue to choose streaming services to release their titles, either exclusively, simultaneously, or a couple of days after a theatrical release. This weekend will be no exception, and in addition to adding more licensed and original content, Netflix will house some of those movies that got a limited theatrical release.

Last weekend didn’t see much licensed content with the animated movie Stand by Me Doraemon and MTV’s Zach Stone is Gonna Be Famous, along with season 2 of Emily in Paris, Adam McKay’s Don’t Look Up, and the Spanish Christmas movie 1000 Miles From Christmas. As it does on the first days of every month, this weekend Netflix will add a bunch of licensed content to its catalogue, most notably Tim Burton’s Big Fish, Girl, Interrupted, the horror movies Interview with the Vampire, I Know What You Did Last Summer, and its sequel I Still Know What You Did Last Summer, Martin Scorsese’s Taxi Driver, David Fincher’s The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, Joel Schumacher’s The Lost Boys, and the children’s movies Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory.

As for original content, Netflix will welcome season 4 of one of its most successful TV shows, the return of the Fab Five, and Maggie Gyllenhaal’s directorial debut. Here are the best movies and TV shows coming to Netflix this weekend – December 31.
