This weekend, Netflix is adding a drama TV series, a true-crime documentary series, and a drama movie with a lot of music. With the future of cinemas unknown thanks to the coronavirus pandemic and the decision of many studios to delay or send their movies to different streaming platforms, Netflix continues to be the main source of entertainment for many, while also offering a space to those movies that couldn’t get a theatrical release – and in addition to that, it keeps adding new original content every week.
Last weekend, the streaming giant welcomed the thrillers Ava and Triple 9 and the TV series Manhunt: Deadly Games, along with The Big Show Show: Christmas, the documentary The Surgeon’s Cut, the short-film Canvas, and the musical The Prom. This weekend will see the arrival of seasons 1 and 2 of Black Ink Crew: New York, seasons 10 and 13 of The Challenge, seasons 1 and 2 of Teen Mom 2, a lot more Jeopardy, and the movies Grizzlies, The Professor and the Madman, Nocturnal Animals, and Braven.

Tiny Pretty Things
Tiny Pretty Things is a Netflix drama TV series based on the novel of the same name by Sona Caraipotra and Dhonielle Clayton. Set in the world of an elite ballet academy, Tiny Pretty Things follows the world of lies and betrayal within the Archer School of Ballet in Chicago, where the star student suffers a terrible accident. When her replacement arrives, she finds herself entangled in a web of lies, mystery, and danger.
The Ripper
Netflix’s catalogue of documentaries keeps expanding, and this weekend it will welcome a true-crime docuseries titled The Ripper. Directed by Jesse Vile and Ellena Wood, this four-part miniseries recounts the murders of 13 women in West Yorkshire and Manchester between 1975 and 1980, carried out by a serial killer known as the Yorkshire Ripper. Through interviews with investigators, survivors, and the families of the victims, The Ripper chronicles the twists and turns of the largest manhunt in British police history.
Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom
Netflix‘s Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom is a drama movie directed by George C. Wolfe and based on the play of the same name by August Wilson. It follows the tensions that arise when the trailblazing Mother of the Blues, Ma Rainey (Viola Davis), and her band gather at a Chicago recording studio in 1927. Late to the session, Ma engages in a battle of wills with her white manager and producer over control of her music; meanwhile, ambitious trumpeter Levee (Chadwick Boseman) plans on starting his own band and begins approaching managers and producers, prompting him to relive previous traumas.
