A new wave of content is arriving to Netflix in May, and there will be a lot of original movies, TV shows, and competition series to choose from. As the coronavirus pandemic continues, streaming platforms continue to see a bigger flow of activity and re-organize some of their upcoming releases. However, one that hasn’t made big changes is Netflix, which has only limited the streaming quality and keeps adding new content every week.
April saw the addition of movies like Coffee & Kareem, Love Wedding Repeat, Tigertail, Sergio, and Extraction; new seasons of Money Heist, The Last Kids on Earth, The Last Kingdom, and Nailed It!; new series like #blackAF, Midnight Gospel, Too Hot to Handle, and Outer Banks; and documentaries like How To Fix a Drug Scandal, The Innocence Files, and Circus of Books. Last month also welcomed a good amount of licensed content, most notably The Social Network, the Matrix series, Taxi Driver, Sherlock Holmes, and all seasons of Community.
This month will also have a good dose of movies that are either returning or joining the catalogue for the first time, such as Sinister, Back to the Future, The Patriot, and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Original content will be this month’s strength, with a lot of movies and TV shows to choose from, among those Ryan Murphy’s new project and a new series starring Steve Carell. Here’s everything releasing on Netflix in May 2020.
May 1
As it does on the first day of every month, Netflix will add a long list of previously released movies, along with original content.
All Day and a Night
- A Netflix original movie about a young man serving life in prison who looks back at the people, the circumstances, and the system that set him on the path toward his crime.
Almost Happy
- Spanish series about a radio host of modest fame trying to find a way in the world as he deals with his ex-wife and two kids.
Get In
- Netflix original movie about a family who finds their house occupied by disturbing squatters when they return from vacation.
Go! Go! Cory Carson: The Chrissy
- The Carson kids win a talent show thanks to a dance that Cory invented, but when “The Chrissy” catches on, it’s his sister who gets all of the attention.
The Half Of It
- Ellie Chu decides to help sweet jock Paul get the attention of his crush, but their unlikely friendship grows complicated when Ellie falls for the same girl.

- Ryan Murphy’s new limited series centered around a group of aspiring actors and filmmakers in post-World War II Hollywood as they try to make it in Tinseltown, no matter the cost.
