Neil Gaiman’s Sandman To Get Two More Seasons On Audible

Audible and DC renewed Neil Gaiman’s audio drama The Sandman for two more installments, titled The Sandman: Act II and The Sandman: Act III. Season 1 released in 2020 and broke two critical records for Audible. The Sandman became the most pre-ordered Audible Original title, as well as the best-selling one since the company’s inception, proving it was a hit with listeners. The audio drama is based on Gaiman’s graphic novel series of the same name, with season 1 adapting the first three volumes, Preludes & Nocturnes, The Doll’s House, and Dream Country.

This week, Audible and DC confirmed The Sandman season 2 will adapt the next four volumes of the graphic novel (Season of Mists, Distant Mirrors, A Game of You, and Convergence). Season 3 will then take on Brief Lives and Worlds End. It’s unknown at this time when the new seasons will be available to listeners. Audible’s Executive Vice President and Head of U.S. Content Rachel Ghiazza stated:

We cannot wait for listeners to enter The Dreaming again and wanted to give fans even more to look forward to by greenlighting not just one season but the next TWO highly anticipated installments.

Gaiman is a pioneer when it comes to having his work adapted for new mediums, standing right beside Stephen King. For instance, The Sandman is currently being adapted into a television show featuring Gwendoline Christie from Game of Thrones. Many are excited about the new series and how it will interpret the source material. The Sandman audio drama’s success could mean good things for the TV show. With that and now two more planned seasons of the Audible version on the way, it’s clear there will be a lot more Gaiman in the years to come.
