Napoleon has passed a major box office milestone during its third weekend in theaters. The movie, which was directed by Ridley Scott, is a historical epic starring Joaquin Phoenix as the titular French leader Napoleon Bonaparte. The story tracks the rise and fall of the leader with a special focus on the push-and-pull relationship between him and his first wife, Empress Joséphine (Vanessa Kirby).
Per Box Office Mojo, the Napoleon box office has added another $4.2 million to its domestic total this weekend. This brings its cumulative domestic total to $53 million, passing the important $50 million milestone in the U.S. However, even with international grosses bringing its worldwide total to $170.8 million, this is still not enough to make back its budget, which is estimated at around $200 million.
