Nancy’s Perfect Stranger Things Ending Doesn’t Involve Jonathan Or Steve

Nancy’s Perfect Stranger Things Ending Doesn’t Involve Jonathan Or Steve

Stranger Things will end with season 5, and while a happy ending isn’t realistic for all characters, the perfect conclusion to Nancy Wheeler’s arc doesn’t involve either Steve Harrington or Jonathan Byers. The Netflix hit series, which debuted in 2016, has gathered a huge dedicated cult thanks to its impeccable storytelling and original approach, but also because of its likable and well-drawn characters. Nancy Wheeler, played by Natalia Dyer, is one of the series’ most fearless and iconic characters, and her ending should reflect how much she’s grown throughout the seasons.

Stranger Things is a sci-fi drama set in the 1980s, yet it focuses on more than just monsters and the supernatural. It’s a coming-of-age series about friendship, parenting, self-discovery, and love, all brought to life thanks to its talented ensemble. Nancy Wheeler is one of the main characters of the show, and, throughout the seasons, she has proven to be a great character who deviated from the stereotypical portrayal of young women in the horror genre, and she needs a fitting ending in Stranger Things season 5.

Stranger Things has spent a lot of time focusing on Nancy’s love triangle throughout the series’ first four seasons. At the beginning of the series, Nancy dated Steve Harrington (Joe Keery), but Jonathan Byers (Charlie Heaton) quickly became a new romantic interest for the character. While Nancy’s love triangle in Stranger Things appeared to have concluded in season 2, season 4 brought it back.

In season 4, Nancy was still dating Jonathan after getting together with him in season 2. However, given Jonathan’s move to California at the end of season 3, she ended up spending more time with Steve, who later confessed his feelings for her. Although season 4 ended with Nancy and Jonathan still dating, Stranger Things has already spent so much time on Nancy’s love triangle, and her character’s love life should reflect her character’s overall growth and focus on her future.

Nancy’s Perfect Stranger Things Ending Isn’t With Jonathan Or Steve

Stranger Things season 5 is meant to wrap up all the stories, including the love triangle between Nancy, Jonathan, and Steve. When it comes to Nancy’s ideal ending, it wouldn’t involve either of her love interests. The best ending would see Nancy going away to college and focusing on her journalism career or becoming a reporter. Although she had a lot of chemistry and good moments with both Jonathan and Steve, high school romances don’t always last. Nancy is young and has a lot more options, including being alone or a tease that she could wind up with some new guy once she’s made some self-discovery.

Natalia Dyer, who portrays Nancy, shared the same sentiment. The actress previously opened up about whether Nancy should be with Steve or Jonathan and agreed that her character spent a lot of time in a relationship, and she needed some time to discover herself. “Whatever happens, I would hope that she does it with integrity,” Dyer said of her Stranger Things character. “I just think she’s stronger now. I think she’s more sure of herself. So whatever she decides to do, she’ll do it for the right reasons.
