Nacon Revolution X Pro Controller Review: An Excellent, Customizable Option

The Nacon Revolution X Pro Controller is a USB wired premium controller that is designed to be used with Windows PCs and Xbox systems, with a focus on allowing the player complete customization for how they play the game. This controller is an amazing piece of tech for pro gamers, as well as for people who play across multiple devices and want to be set up with the flick of a switch.

On the surface, the Revolution X Pro looks like many other similar PC/Xbox controllers. The customization options start with the grips, or rather, what can be placed inside of them. As a wired controller, the Revolution X Pro is lighter than wireless controllers that require batteries or battery packs. The Revolution X Pro comes with a box of small weights that can be inserted into spaces beneath the removable grips. Without the weights, the controller weighs less than the standard Xbox Series X/S controller with batteries inside. With the heaviest weights inside (two 16 gram cylinders), it weighs noticeably more than the same Xbox Series X/S controller. The controller also comes with 10 and 14 gram weights, so the player can determine the perfect weight for their Revolution X Pro, in terms of balance and if they can be comfortable holding it for extended periods of time.

This simple idea is great for helping players get the perfect feel for their controller, even before using it for the first time. The Revolution X Pro package comes with the weights, a set of replaceable joysticks (so the player can choose between concave or convex thumb sticks), and a sturdy carrying case.

Once the controller is plugged in, it will function like a high-quality Xbox Series X/S controller, with a notable lack of delay on joystick and button inputs. The player can then download the Revolution X app on either PC or Xbox systems, in order to further define their control scheme. The Revolution X Pro Controller can have four player profiles saved onto the controller itself, which can quickly be switched with a press of a button on the back of the controller. The player can also instantly turn off the custom profiles with a flick of the switch that is next to the profile button.

Different profiles can feature varying levels of response from the joysticks, a remapped button setup, and the use of four additional buttons on the back. The fact that these are saved onto the controller itself makes it the ideal choice for gamers who take their controller with them, either to competitions or just to a friend’s house. The extra four buttons on the back are especially useful for rebinding the triggers, which makes it easier to play games that use them extensively for long periods of time. The placement of the extra buttons is such that they are always within reach, but they are just sturdy enough not to be affected when touched accidentally or placed down. The extra sensitivity options of the joysticks require a little trial and error to set up to player satisfaction, but once it’s set, it doesn’t need to be done again.

The Revolution X Pro Controller gives the player usage of the Dolby Atmos app, which can be activated by plugging a set of headphones into the controller. This creates an amazing 3D soundscape that puts the player in the center of the action. The directional sounds are also incredibly useful in 3D multiplayer games like Fortnite and Valorant, where hearing approaching footsteps is crucial to high-level performance.

The only issue with the Revolution X Pro Controller is that it’s a wired controller. While this does keep to the controller’s ethos of being able to get into the action straight away on different systems without needing to connect Bluetooth devices, it also necessitates wires around the room, though a lengthy USB-C cable that comes with the controller helps alleviate some of that issue. The price of the controller also isn’t going to be for everyone, as it costs $109.90 USD at launch. The incredible customization options on offer make the Nacon Revolution X Pro Controller worth the purchase for both professionals and enthusiasts alike.

The Nacon Revolution X Pro Controller will be released on October 13, 2021.  The controller can be purchased on the official Nacon website. Screen Rant was provided with a controller for the purposes of this review.
