My Hero Academia Dabi Cosplay Gender-Flips Blueflame Villain

Warning! Spoilers for My Hero Academia below

In the My Hero Academia universe, few characters are more dangerous than Dabi, and in a new gender-flipped cosplay, the villain gets a new look. The MHA villain, also known as Blueflame, has one of the most memorable looks in the manga. In her cosplay, @SleepySyren brings the character to life with an ensemble that shows off the former League of Villains antagonist.

Dabi is a villain with an interesting tie to one of the greatest heroes in My Hero Academia. Blueflame, whose cremation powers allow him to ignite blue flames capable of incinerating anyone who stands in his way. Blueflame joined the League of Villains based on his admiration for Hero Killer: Stain and led the Vanguard Action Squad within the villainous organization. In later chapters of My Hero Academia, it’s revealed he’s the son of the 1st ranked superhero Endeavor and brother of Shoto Todoroki. Dabi has sought revenge on his father for his abusive relationship with him and helped tarnish the reputation of Endeavor to the general public. Blumeflame also wants to take down his brother, Shoto.

On her Twitter account, @SleepySyren shared her take on Dabi from My Hero Academia as part of her #28DaysofBlackCosplay series. The gender-flipped cosplay shows the pain Dabi suffered as a result of his Quirk, after burning himself as a child. The cosplay shows off the damaged skin of the hero, which can be seen from the neck to the bottom lip and under the eyes. The cosplay also features the staples from Blueflame’s look, which are seen throughout his face and connect his damaged skin with the untouched parts. The entire look is simultaneously horrifying and beautiful.

Given its relatively large cast of characters, My Hero Academia has garnered some impressive cosplays. Among some of our favorites include Deku getting his own Spider-Man costume, an awesome cosplay of one of MHA’s best new heroes, Lady Nagant, as well as a gender-flipped Bakugo ensemble. There appears to be endless options for cosplayers to choose from.

Considering Dabi’s dark past, troubled childhood, and pain from his father’s obsession with trying to become the number one hero, it’s no surprise he turned as a villain. Blueflame has layers that make him a great antagonist. The gender-flipped cosplay ultimately captures the character’s disturbing look while bringing something new to one of My Hero Academia’s most iconic looks.
