My Adventures With Superman’s season 1 finale featured the ultimate showdown between Clark Kent and General Lane, introduced General Zod, and teased another classic Superman villain. Clark, who had saved the city from the Parasite and escaped Task Force X, tried to move on with his life and invited Lois and Jimmy to Thanksgiving at the Kent’s. Clark also invited Lois Lane’s father, without knowing that he was the General. Even though Jimmy Olsen tried to make everyone calmer, the silent confrontation between Clark and the General made My Adventures With Superman episode 10 tense from start to finish.
Finding out that My Adventures With Superman‘s Lois Lane was the General’s daughter was only the beginning of one of Superman’s most difficult days. Just like it happened decades ago, Earth was attacked by an army of Kryptonian robots, from drones to mechas. This was the toughest battle Superman ever encountered, which turned out to be even more complicated after Clark was infected with Kryptonite. While Superman survived, the problems are far from over. The Kryptonian behind the invasion is now aware of Earth’s hero and will attack again. Here’s what My Adventures With Superman’s season 1 ending means for the show ahead of season 2.
My Adventures With Superman Episode 10 Introduces General Zod
My Adventures With Superman’s season 1 finale all but confirmed that the Kryptonian who invaded Earth 22 years ago is General Zod. At the very end of the episode, the Kryptonian robot that was leading Krypton’s armada against Earth reported back to its leader. Although My Adventures With Superman’s secret villain does not remove his helmet, they said that Earth will eventually “kneel.” This is a reference to the iconic line “Kneel before Zod,” used in movies such as Superman II and many other adaptations. In other words, My Adventures With Superman just introduced General Zod ahead of season 2.
General Zod surviving the destruction of Krypton and returning to fight Kal-El has been done several times in Superman adaptations, including in the DCEU’s Man of Steel. However, My Adventures With Superman’s Zod seems to be doing something different. The iconic Superman villain is leading an army of Kryptonian drones and mechas, and he is using them to conquer planets. General Zod was surprised to learn that Earth resisted a Kryptonian invasion, meaning he will probably attack the planet himself in My Adventures With Superman season 2.
My Adventures With Superman’s Season 1 Finale Hints Brainiac Is Behind It All
General Zod is leading the army that attacked Earth, but My Adventures With Superman episode 10 also hinted at Brainiac being involved. In some versions of Superman’s mythos, Brainiac attacked Krypton before the planet was destroyed and captured Argo City. In other versions, such as the DC Animated Universe timeline, Brainiac was created in Krypton. My Adventures With Superman seems to be going with the latter, as the Kryptonian robots that fought Superman all spotted Brainiac-like designs. Brainiac’s signature three-dot design appeared in front of Jor-El, further suggesting Superman’s nemesis is tied to Krypton’s army. My Adventures With Superman’s villains were mostly tech-based, meaning Brainiac would fit just fine.
Why General Lane Didn’t Shoot Superman In The Finale
General Lane, also known as the General, finally had the chance to kill Superman. Even though Superman was not the Kryptonian that killed many of Sam Lane’s friends decades ago, the General believed Metropolis’ hero was another invader ready to attack the planet. Amanda Waller, who is now head of Task Force X, gave General Lane specific orders to track down and kill the Man of Steel. My Adventures With Superman episode 10 did not give Lois Lane’s father a redemption arc, but the General did hesitate to kill Superman because of Lois. General Lane lied to Waller and let Superman go, although where Sam Lane goes next is unknown.
Why My Adventures With Superman’s Jimmy Olsen Is Rich Now
One of the most surprising twists from My Adventures With Superman’s season 1 finale is that Jimmy Olsen is now rich. Jimmy sold the Flamebird, his online channel dedicated to covering news, to the Daily Planet. Olsen only had a couple of followers at the beginning of the season, but after Superman came into play, the Flamebird became a global success. Jimmy Olsen sold the Flamebird to the Daily Planet for millions of dollars, which changes everything about the character going into season 2. The fact Jimmy was so nonchalant about the news made it even better. How different Olsen will be as a millionaire remains to be seen.
Krypton’s Plan In My Adventures With Superman: Was Kal-El Sent To Conquer Earth?
My Adventures With Superman’s Krypton seems to have been a planet of conquerors. Considering that General Zod and his army attacked Earth before Krypton exploded, it is safe to say that he was acting on behalf of the planet, and not as a rogue soldier. Kal-El confronted his father, Jor-El, about the true reason he was sent to Earth. Jor-El continues to speak in Kryptonian, meaning it is impossible to say for sure what he is saying most of the time. However, Jor-El was sorry about something and made clear that he would never do something to hurt Kal-El.
It is still unclear whether Kal-El was sent to Earth to conquer the planet, and whether Jor-El was behind it. Maybe Krypton was indeed a planet of conquerors, but Jor-El and Lara were on board with it. Perhaps the likes of General Zod and Brainiac wanted to have Kryptonians on multiple planets to act as conquerors, whereas Kal-El’s parents only wished for him to be safe. There are still a lot of unanswered questions regarding My Adventures With Superman’s Jor-El and Krypton as a whole, many of which may be revisited in season 2.
How My Adventures With Superman’s Season 1 Ending Sets Up Season 2
My Adventures With Superman’s season 1 finale partially concluded the Task Force X storyline with General Lane refusing to kill Superman. However, many other plotlines can be tackled in My Adventures With Superman season 2. The biggest of them is the payoff of General Zod’s introduction. Not only is Zod commanding an army of drones and mechas, but he is also aware that Earth has a champion. General Zod promised that the planet would kneel, setting up a confrontation between one of the most popular Superman villains and the Man of Steel.
The evil Superman storyline was not addressed in the finale, although Clark discovered the footage. On one hand, My Adventures With Superman‘s multiverse episode may have been just a way to show that Superman does turn evil in many universes, as a way to raise the stakes for the journey of the show’s main Clark. On the other hand, the multiverse may be revisited in My Adventures With Superman season 2. Regardless, discovering the existence of evil versions of himself made Clark question his existence even more, which ties into how Kal-El was probably sent to Earth to be a conqueror.
How Amanda Waller will react to General Lane’s decision is also something that My Adventures With Superman episode 2 can explore. The General’s decision to let Superman go can be the beginning of a redemption arc, with Lois and her father finally coming to terms. The presence of Brainiac on the show, which was hinted at during the finale, can be one of the central storylines in season 2. Lastly, several My Adventures With Superman characters were missing from the finale, including Lex Luthor. Alex’s journey to becoming the classic Lex Luthor may be explored in season 2, which could feature at least three major Superman antagonists.
