Dr. Now Compares Steven Assanti’s Leg To An Elephant’s

My 600-lb Life Season 5

Another one of Dr. Now’s savage moments comes from Steven Assanti’s story a few years ago. The Rhode Island local was part of TLC’s My 600-lb Life season 5 and failed to drop enough weight quickly. He also had a morbidly obese brother, Justin Assanti, who also struggled with his obesity. During one of the episodes, Steven visited Dr. Now for his check-up, where he discovered he had gained 21 pounds.

He was worried about facing him for obvious reasons. Dr. Now was furious at Steven’s lack of progress. He called him an “absolute failure” and exposed him for being a drug addict. He made him stand in front of a mirror and said, “look at what you’ve done to your body.” He compared his legs to an elephant’s and added, “it doesn’t look human anymore.”

One of the scenes showed Latonya blaming the hospital food and calling it terrible. She complained about the beans and said the high-protein meal was inedible.

Unfortunately, the savage remark wasn’t enough to educate Latonya on how to improve. She kept complaining about the meal and compared it to dog food.

The 24-year-old patient resident debuted at 486 pounds and could only drop 17 pounds six months before quitting the program. Dr. Now and Ashley had various arguments in season 8. One such moment showed Ashley acting delusional as she declined help from the experts at the hospital.

She complained about everything and asked the doctor to just perform the surgery on her despite her terrible lifestyle. As expected, Dr. Now was shocked by her refusal and lack of understanding.

He replied, “you haven’t lost any weight, and you want us to do magic for you.”

The surgeon shared that the surgery only works when she eats less. He added, “it’s gonna help you by making you eat less.”

Lee laughed at the statement and mockingly said, “I guess I am eating the wrong things.” As expected, Dr. Now wasn’t too happy about Lee’s response. He got angry at him and asked, “do you think it’s funny?” Confronted by facts, Lee felt overwhelmed and decided to leave the appointment.

There have been times when Dr. Now has been somewhat unfair in his assessments but for understandable reasons. In My 600-lb Life season 6, he treated Schenee Murry-Hawkins, a 27-year-old from Indianapolis. He tried to give her the right advice, but she never understood it. Schenee was delusional about her size. She felt it was water weight and didn’t put enough effort into losing weight. As a result, she was unable to change herself.

She only dropped 0.8 pounds in 8 months before Dr. Now dismissed her. The episode had many savage moments, one of which was when the surgeon accused Schenee of eating pizza, and she declined it by calling it waterweight. Dr. Now said, “do you think I am stupid and won’t understand when you retain water?” This remark hurt Schenee, who immediately started crying and begged, “send me back home.”

The surgeon said, “so, Chocolate is more important to you than living, apparently.”

While Dr. Now wanted to help her, her lack of progress annoyed him. He disliked that she wasn’t serious about her health and made excuses. One of the moments showed Dr. Now being bewildered by her sudden 60-pound weight gain.

Joyce said, “actually, with the eating habits, I’ve been doing really really well. So I don’t know other than the fact that I’m putting on water.” Dr. Now immediately rebutted her claims with mockery. He asked, “so you saying you gained 60 pounds of water on a car ride here, because you’re sitting up?” The surgeon boldly shut Joyce down by stating her excuses weren’t reality.

Dr. Now Bluntly Tells Lisa Fleming She’ll Die Soon

My 600-lb Life Season 6

Lisa Fleming was suffering a lot of pain due to her obesity. She wasn’t just overweight but also struggled with other issues, like maggot infection in her folds. While Dr. Now wanted to help her, she was never too keen on changing herself. The 49-year-old patient could only drop a few pounds before getting herself dismissed from the program in month 6. Lisa tragically died in 2018, a few months after her reality TV appearance, something Dr. Now had already predicted on the show.

One of the scenes showed the famous surgeon finding a pack of unhealthy snacks while examining Lisa’s back. He was shocked by her lack of concern for herself and the resources he had provided her.

Fortunately, those who followed Dr. Now’s advice on My 600-lb Life are now healthy and fit.
