As reality dating show fans continue to await the official release date of Paramount+’s Are You The One?, it’s worth wondering if the show will adhere to the same format as season 8 on MTV. The most recent season, which aired in 2019, marked the first reality dating show to include sexually fluid contestants. Rather than ten heterosexual males looking for matches among ten heterosexual females, all of the contestants in season 8 were bisexual and eligible to be paired with anyone in the Hawaiian villa.
Of course, as fans continue to anticipate the new global season of Are You The One, it’s always a fun exercise to look back and catch up with what the previous cast members are up to nowadays. While it’s sad to report none of the season 8 couples are still together, it’s still worth catching up with the cast members in 2022.
Aasha & Brandon
Aasha Wells and Brandon Davis were confirmed as the only Perfect Match in the truth booth in season 8, allowing them to remain together for the final five weeks of the competition. Despite being one of the best Are You The One? couples, they admitted in the unofficial reunion episode realized they were not meant for each other and split once the show ended. Nowadays, Aasha still resides in Florida and recently started her own podcast called Aasha Uncensored, which fans can find details about on her Instagram page. It appears earning her degree in Communications and Journalism is paying off for Aasha.
As for Brandon, his fate since competing on the show is less clear. The former athlete and fitness guru with a military family background from Salt Lake City has yet to appear in another reality TV show, although the timing of the pandemic may have attributed to his disappearance from the spotlight. With a nonexistent social media presence, it’s difficult to tell what Brandon is up to in 2022.
Amber & Remy
New York natives Amber Martinez and Remy Duran never sat together once yet were declared a Perfect Match during the season finale. Since competing in the best season of Are You The One?, Amber participated in The Challenge: Double Agents in 2020-21. Amber currently co-hosts her own The Challenge reaction show on YouTube, and according to her Instagram, has a new beau in her life that she recently spent time with in Las Vegas. By all accounts, Amber now lives in Los Angeles.
Since his time on the show, Remy has parlayed his minor celebrity to influence legions of social media followers. More importantly, Remy welcomed a baby son named Ari with a new girlfriend, both of whom he continually beams about on his Instagram page. With his professional TV career on hold at the moment, Remy is clearly focused on being the best new dad he can be while enjoying summer travel.
Basit & Jonathan
For the first time in show history, viewers were made privy to a Perfect Match inside the house that the contestants were unaware of. That match was between Basit Shittu and Jonathan Monroe, a genuine couple who sat together for 7 of 10 weeks and two of Are You The One?‘s most memorable contestants. Better known by their drag persona Dionne Slay, Basit continues to advocate for the LGBTQ+ community, recently co-founding the production company Legacy: A Black Queer Production Collective. As for Jonathan, he has relocated from his native Florida to Los Angeles where he has given up his former career as a bank manager to become a professional hair stylist and makeup artist. Fans can find him giving very recent beauty tutorials on Instagram. As of now, Jonathan’s current relationship status is being kept under wraps.
Danny & Kai
Danny Prikazsky and Kai Wes linked up in week one and sat together a total of five times before being declared a Perfect Match in the finale. Danny has since parlayed his charming screen presence into several short film appearances as well as TV shows like The Verdict and Rogue Theory. With a massive social media presence in 2022, fans can find Danny on Instagram, Twitter, and Cameo. It appears he’s fusing his background as a data tech scientist with more acting roles to produce content for such brands as Monster Fight Club for Crypt TV.
After appearing in MTV’s True Life: Quarantine Stories and producing the short film Them in 2020, Kai Wes continues to raise awareness for the LGBTQ+ community as a transmasculine non-binary. Kai has documented his brave transition on Instagram and continues to increase his reality star presence by posting on Tik Tok and recently appearing on G-Flip’s IG Live for Playboy. Like many other season 8 contestants, Kai’s current relationship status is unclear.
Jasmine & Nour
Jasmine Olson and Nour Fraij sat together in weeks 8 through 10 before being deemed a Perfect Match. Jasmine has since been transplanted from her native Mississippi to live her best life in Dallas, Texas, where she currently works as a professional model. Also quite active on Tik Tok and Twitter, Jasmine is capitalizing on her magnetic reality TV personality to grow a popular following, even appearing in season 4 of MTV’s Floribama Shore.
While her Instagram remains private, Nour has become a mother to a boy named Noah since her time on the show, doing so with a boyfriend named Stanley (per Facebook). Jenna & Paige
Jenna Brown and Paige Cole had brief flirtations with each other before ending strong as a Perfect Match in the finale. After moving from her conservative Indiana hometown, Jenna is currently living out and proud as an artist in Los Angeles, where she is in a committed relationship with a woman named Nani. Jenna recently caught the bouquet at a friend’s wedding and tagged Nani on Instagram, so perhaps marriage is in the cards for her in 2022 and beyond as well.
As for Paige, the Allen, Texas native is now living the glitzy life in New York City, where she gives video tutorials on exotic dancing, many of which she posts on Instagram. Paige and Remy admitted to hooking up and enjoying a brief fling during the finale of season 8, although Paige appears to be single in 2022.
Kari & Max
While it seemed like Kari Snow and Kylie Smith were destined to become a Perfect Match, the algorithms revealed that Max was Kari’s ideal partner. Nowadays, Kari has relocated from New Jersey to Baltimore where she works as a professional NFL cheerleader for the Baltimore Ravens as part of the Raven’s Playmakers Squad. Kari’s also a comedian and media personality that interacts with fans on tour and whose followers can stay apprised of where she’s headed on Instagram. She too is currently single.
Meanwhile, Max remains in Los Angeles after moving from his conservative Ohio hometown, where he works as an Artist Manager for Seven20 Group, an international Web3 company that fuses blockchain and Metaverse content. Apparently single in 2022, Max has been recently hitting the music festival circuit by attending Coachella, Red Rocks, EDC, and more.
Justin & Kylie
Justin Palm and Kylie Smith never sat together one time throughout the show yet were revealed as Perfect Matches in the finale. Since competing, Justin has relocated from his native Palmdale, California to New York where he lives and works as a photographer and content creator. Since his Instagram is private, it’s difficult to tell whether Justin is single in 2022.
As for Kylie, the Utah native has since appeared on the MTV dating show Match Me If You Can in 2021. Kylie has since moved to New York and continues to earn a living as a model. Fans can follow her on Twitter and Instagram. She appears to be single in 2022 as well. Hopefully, all the Are You The One? season 8 contestants find love sooner than later.
