This week:
It’s The Hunger Games: “Casting” Fire; Mary Steenburgen goes to Last Vegas; writer Nic Pizzolatto mounts the remake of The Magnificent Seven and Steve Pink wants to know About Last Night.
This week has seen a flurry of casting news for The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, with E. Roger Mitchell, Alan Ritchson and Bruno Gunn joining the cast of the eagerly awaited adaptation of the Suzanne Collins best-selling novel.
Mitchell has signed on to play Chaff, “a tribute from District 11, Chaff won the 45th Annual Hunger Games and will compete in the Quarter Quell.” Ritchson will take on the role of Gloss, a “former Career tribute from District 1,” while Gunn will play Brutus, a “former Career victor from District 2.”
Are these actors suited to their roles?

Mary Steenburgen is set to join Michael Douglas, Robert DeNiro, Morgan Freeman and Kevin Kline in the comedy Last Vegas.
According to Deadline:
“The character [of Diana]is a Sin City lounge singer who gets close to the soon-to-be-married Billy character played by Michael Douglas. Diana then becomes the object of both the affections of his and co-star Robert DeNiro’s Paddy character.”
Jon Turteltaub directs Dan Fogelman’s screenplay, which is said to be Hangover-esque – with an older cast.

MGM has hired Nic Pizzolatto to write the remake of The Magnificent Seven.
The project currently has Tom Cruise attached, and there are rumors circulating that Matt Damon, Morgan Freeman and current comeback king, Kevin Costner may also be in the (Tom?) Mix.
It looks like this remake may be one step closer to becoming a reality.

Hot Tub Time Machine director Steve Pink is in negotiations to direct Screen Gems’ remake of About Last Night.
The original starred Rob Lowe, Demi Moore and James Belushi, while this new version has Kevin Hart, Regina King and Michael Ealy already signed.
Both films use David Mamet’s Sexual Perversity in Chicago as their touchstone.
