Move Over, Karl Urban – Judge Dredd Cosplay Celebrates His FULL Comic-Accurate Uniform

In the world of comics, Judge Dredd is an iconic character whose policing power in Mega-City One is unrivaled, with Dredd getting a pair of live-action portrayals that did their best to adapt the dark and gritty source material of the comics to varying degrees of success. Luckily for fans, a new cosplay celebrating Judge Dredd’s full comic-accurate uniform has arrived, proving that the character needs another big screen outing as soon as possible.

A series of photos shared on Instagram by username @batsturd, this talented creator is a prolific cosplayer in the nerd community and works overtime as the photographer, editor, designer, and wearer of each new live-action look they come up with.

Dressing as a handful of other popular comic characters like Watchmen’s The Comedian, DC Comics’ Batman and Lobo, Marvel’s Wolverine, and even a version of Logan possessed by Ghost Rider’s Spirit of Vengeance called the Hellverine, @batsturd’s designs always impress with their comic-accurate detail and professional-level quality that truly give these characters the justice they deserve.

How Many People Actually Live in Judge Dredd’s Mega-City One

The population of Judge Dredd’s Mega-City One has gone through major changes over the decades due to various devastating events in its history.

Judge Dredd Gets The Live-Action Design He Deserves In New Cosplay Images

Created by John Wagner and Carlos Ezquerra, Judge Joseph Dredd debuted in 1977’s 2000 AD and has received two distinct live-action portrayals in the decades since. Played by Sylvester Stallone in 1995’s Judge Dredd and then by Karl Urban in 2012’s Dredd, Stallone’s take on the character, while more comic-accurate in his costume design, wasn’t exactly lauded as the best take on the character, while Karl Urban’s version was celebrated for being a perfect characterization of the hero, despite his movie outfit toning down an over-the-top comic suit that fans know and love.

A look spread out across four different posts, each new image of @batsturd’s Judge Dredd drips in saturated hues and is made even better by some choice photo editing that helps this costume pop in all the right ways. Seen in multiple photos wearing a comic-accurate helmet, golden wardrobe, chain accents, and a scowl that would make Karl Urban proud, @batsturd goes all in on the oversized shoulder pads of Dredd’s policing uniform, with his selection of weapons even getting their due in a few images, solidifying this cosplay as one of the best seen for the character.

Dredd Cosplay Gives Fans An Even Better Design Than Karl Urban’s Costume

What’s more, @batsturd gets creative with some of the background elements in the photos, layering in a ruined landscape and a stars and stripes motif behind their cosplay that makes these images unique, particularly in the final post where a sketchy overlay on top of Dredd’s helmet turns the photo into a work of art. Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like another live-action version of Judge Dredd will be hitting the big or small screen anytime soon, so fans will have to give @batsturd a follow if they want to see this brutal hero live and in the flesh.
