Mortal Kombat 2 Already Sounds Much Better Than The 2021 Reboot

Mortal Kombat 2 is still a while away, but it is already clear that the upcoming sequel sounds much better than the 2021 Mortal Kombat reboot.

Mortal Kombat 2’s Quan Chi Means The Sequel Can Retcon Scorpion’s Family Tragedy

Quan Chi manipulates Scorpion into thinking Sub-Zero murdered his family in the video games.

In Mortal Kombat, Cole Young teams up with Scorpion to defeat Sub-Zero after Scorpion recognizes Cole as one of his descendants, and while the fight’s conclusion is sudden, it gives Scorpion a sense of closure regarding the murder of his family and the Shirai Ryu clan. However, in Scorpion’s ending in Mortal Kombat 4, it is revealed that Quan Chi was actually behind the murder of Scorpion’s family and clan, using his sorcery abilities to manipulate Scorpion into thinking Sub-Zero was responsible. As a result, the two iconic ninjas have been embroiled in a bitter feud ever since.

With Mortal Kombat 2‘s Quan Chi reveal, audiences will finally have an opportunity to see the bloody battle between Scorpion and Quan Chi play out the way it was always intended to. Furthermore, Quan Chi’s inclusion and possible defeat will also give Bi-Han a sense of closure, as he too was manipulated into thinking that Scorpion was responsible for his untimely murder, thus turning him into the deadly shadow ninja Noob Saibot. Although it isn’t clear how big of a role Quan Chi will play in Mortal Kombat 2‘s events, the door is still open for many great possibilities.

How Scorpion & Sub-Zero Can Team Up In Mortal Kombat 2

Perhaps the most shocking reveal regarding Bi-Han/Sub-Zero killing Scorpion’s family and clan is that it was actually Quan Chi posing as the cryomancer. If Mortal Kombat 2 does that, Cole could uncover the truth and use that knowledge to help Scorpion see the truth. They can get through to Noob Saibot, thus breaking him free from his blind rage, and the three of them can defeat Quan Chi. Cole, Scorpion, and Noob Saibot teaming up would make the most sense, and it would be a clever way for Mortal Kombat 2 to retcon the previous movie’s mistakes.
