Mortal Kombat 11 relies on the use of consumables in order to unlock in-game items and costumes. One of the most valuable items in the game is the Koins, available through a variety of game modes. These Koins are necessary for opening treasure chests throughout the Krypt. These chests house a variety of rare costumes, gear, gear sets, etc. and are one of the most valuable items to purchase in the Krypt. However, the journey to gaining Koins can be a painful and difficult experience.
This guide will provide three main ways to unlock Koins within Mortal Kombat 11. It will provide the best way to farm them and some alternate ways. The necessity of Koins in-game are strictly for cosmetics, they are not a required item to play the game. However, they do add some spice to the aesthetic of the game and allow players fun and new ways to customize their favorite characters.
Gaining Koins in the Krypt in Mortal Kombat 11
As you journey through the open world of the Krypt, players may receive Koins as they travel. The vast world of the Krypt offers a multitude of nooks and crannies for discovering a variety of different items. Making use of the Krypt may provide players with a good amount of Koins in their travels.
One of the ways to receive Koins is through the destruction of breakable items. Although generally not a large sum of Koins, it is still adding more funds into a player’s wallet. Simply smashing your way through the Krypt can allow for a small amount of Koins at a time, but those small amounts could add up to purchasing your favorite gear set in the game.
When you first enter the Krypt, get the first two chests that have no cost to open. These chests provide players with 100,000 Koins for simply opening a box. This can serve as a valuable base for adding onto a Koin collection. Or if you have been farming Koins another way, an additional 100,000 would be a nice bonus.
Ringing the gongs in the Courtyard and the Warriors shrine will provide players with 25,000 Koins each. A whopping total of 50,000 Koins for ringing a large bell is too good of an incentive to pass up.
Playing the Story Mode in Mortal Kombat 11
Another way to gain Koins in Mortal Kombat 11 is by finishing the cinematic story mode of the game. The story mode awards 10 Koins per match. By the time a player finished the story, it will award around 100,000 Koins.
However, this mode is a definite time commitment. To finish the entire story on Medium difficulty it would take a player at the fastest 7 hours and the longest close to 10. Although it is a large amount of time having 100,000 Koins for completing, what is arguably one of the best aspects of Mortal Kombat 11, is more than worth the investment.
For those players looking for a fast way to gain Koins, this mode is not the ideal method. The story mode is an extremely enjoyable and brutal experience. So to be awarded for playing through a quality story mode is more than worth the time commitment.
Farming Koins in the Towers of Time in Mortal Kombat 11
This is by far the most time-efficient method to farming Koins in the game. To set up this method of farming may seem a little bit complicated at first.
To gain the most amount of Koins in the Towers of Time, players must set up an AI Kombatant. This character should be one that is deemed as strong and should be a character that you are familiar with. Once the player picks their ideal character they must customize the AI’s behavior to fit that character’s strength and ideal play style.
To provide an example, the ideal character to get the most mileage out of your AI Kombatant, is by picking the character Noob Saibot. Pick one of the tournament variations to be his go-to variation and then change his play style. There are a variety of different play styles available for the AI character, pick one which fits its strongest method of play. For Noob be sure to pick the maniac style, as it encourages aggressive and offensive playstyle.
Once you have assigned Noob his maniac style, be sure to increase his “rush-down” and “combo” stats, this will make your AI Noob into an offensive combo master. Noob is the recommended character to farm Koins but is not the only option. Choosing a character like Erron Black could be effective if you choose the Zoner play style and add points to his zoning stats. Whatever character you choose, be sure to customize their stats and play style to meet the strengths of that character.
After you have created your ideal AI character go to the Klassic towers and select the endless tower. Once selected choose your AI character and let him engage in the endless tower. This method requires no player interaction with the mode, except pressing the X or A button to go to the next match. So kick your feet up and enjoy watching your AI fighter dominate the endless tower. Each match he or she wins will award players Koins. This sets up a Koin hungry player with a valuable method to farm and they will receive a large amount of money with low involvement.
You can use this method to challenge any of the towers in the Towers of Time mode. Some towers will award large sums of Koin for completing the towers. Be sure when engaging in either the Endless tower or any other towers that award Koins to use the Philosopher’s stone consumable, which awards double Koins for each victory.
Regardless of which method a player chooses, any of these tips will set players on the right path to having a large sum of Koins in Mortal Kombat 11. This will allow them the freedom to buy chests in the Krypt to their heart’s desire.
