Mortal Kombat 1: Every Invasion Klue (& How to Solve Them)

Mortal Kombat 1: Every Invasion Klue (& How to Solve Them)

The seasonal rewards found in world mesas in the Invasion mode of Mortal Kombat 1 are tied to hidden puzzles you can solve which guard every additional reward seen in this single-player content. Ranging from direct hints to scrambled words you have to decipher, these Klues usually lead to new nodes with chests. Those who unlock these spots will be able to collect new palettes and gear for both Kameos and roster fighters.

You have to beat the Johnny Cage Mansion tutorial mesa before branching out into the main mesas that make up the Invasion mode of Mortal Kombat 1. As of this time of writing, there are eight mesas tied to Season 1, which features Hellfire Scorpion as the primary enemy threatening the realms. However, only six of these places hold these secrets, with Wu Shi Academy and the Gateway Portal having no Klues to speak of.

How to Solve Every Invasion Klue in Mortal Kombat 1

Mortal Kombat 1: Every Invasion Klue (& How to Solve Them)

Most Invasion Klues are given when your chosen fighter stops on node spaces throughout a mesa, usually right next to some sort of obstacle that blocks a chest in the distance. Half of the Klues are straightforward hints, while others only provide a jumbled assortment of letters that would spell out how to solve the puzzle. Each ask you to do something different during the fight on a node, like performing a Fatality in Mortal Kombat 1 for example.

Fengjing Village

Mortal Kombat 1 Fengjing Village Invasion Klue Being Solved

The first node with a Klue you’ll encounter in Mortal Kombat 1 is called “Damn Sand”, where you’ll have to fight Geras and his Kameo fighter Goro. There’s nothing special about this fight, as the game is still trying to teach you basic fighting mechanics against a Level 1 opponent. This node can be found around the midpoint of the mesa, which is fairly linear compared to other worlds you might visit.

Klue

How to Solve

“ESDORYT TEH DWLOR”

The translation to this Klue is “Destroy the World, meaning that you have to perform Cyrax’s Kameo Fatality that blows up the Earth. Win the fight and make sure to input Back, Forward, Back then the Kameo Button at mid-range to destroy the planet and solve the Klue.

Sun Do Festival

Mortal Kombat 1 Sun Do Festival Klue Being Solved to Reveal New Treasure Node

There are two Sun Do Festival Klues, one at the “Broken” node and another at the “Pure Chaos” node location on the table-top game board. The first spot can be found in a fight against a Level 6 Havik in Mortal Kombat 1 and the Jax Kameo around halfway through the stage. The second exists right before the end, in a battle against a Level 9 Reiko and the Sonya Blade Kameo.

Klue

How to Solve

“Toasty!!”

Similar to the Klue in Fengjing Village, you must perform a Kameo Fatality after winning the fight here. This time though, use the Scorpion Kameo and do his Fatality with the input Forward, Down, Forward, Kameo button at mid-range.

“AMNISLTA4”

This Klue means “Talisman 4“, indicating that you need to use a Talisman that can be spent 4 times in the fight here. Equip a Talisman with at least 4 slots, then spend that number of charges to solve the Klue.

Tarkatan Colony

Mortal Kombat 1 Tarkatan Colony Klue Solved to Reveal Hidden Treasure Node

Another two Klues exist at the “Screech” node found at the middle section of the Colony and the “Infected” node seen just as the stage path exits the main Colony. Initially, you need to fight Sindel and Sektor, the next time involves an infected Baraka with the red robot as well. The requirements for these Klues are more complicated than the ones you’ve seen before, so be ready to think outside the box.

Klue

How to Solve

“Flipping Out”

Use the L2 or LT input to switch your character’s Stance during the fight at least 20 times.

“DADAERHT”

This Klue spells “Threaded“, which is the same name as a Fatality that the character Ashrah can perform. Although you may not have this fighter leveled up to have this finisher through Character Mastery, you must use this Fatality by using the Down, Down, Back, Back Kick at mid-range to solve the Klue.

Shang Tsung’s Laboratory

Mortal Kombat 1 Another Test Subject Node in Shang Tsung's Laboratory with Klue

Shang Tsung’s Laboratory has multiple layers that can make it hard to navigate, but you should be able to find two more Klues hidden at different sections of the stage. One is “Frisky” with a fight against Kitana and Sareena, while the other is named “Chomp Chomp Hiss” in a fight versus Reptile. You will need to have the pre-order character Shang Tsung unlocked to complete at least one of these.

Klue

How to Solve

“Another Test Subject”

After winning the battle here with Shang Tsung, use his second Fatality by inputting Forward, Down, Back, Back Punch at mid-range to unlock the Klue.

“Brutal Ways”

Perform a Brutality in Mortal Kombat 1 with any one of your characters against Reptile before the “Finsih Him!” prompt can show up.

Living Forest

Mortal Kombat 1 Living Forest Klue Node Solved to Reveal Hidden Treasure Chest in Invasion Mode

Three Klues can be found here, at the “Counting Time”, “Still Learning”, and “Direct Current” nodes which feature the widest variety of fighters yet. The first has Geras and Cyrax, the second sees you take on Liu Kang and Sub-Zero, while the final node goes against Raiden and Scorpion. Despite the larger number of Klues here, many of the hints should have solutions that are familiar to you by this point in Mortal Kombat 1.

Klue

How to Solve

“NOMAD RENNI”

This Klue translates to “Inner Demon”, indicating the name of Kameo Sareena’s one and only Fatality. Defeat your opponent, then perform the finishing move by pressing Back, Down, Down, Kameo button at mid-range to solve the Klue.

“QUACKX10”

Not actually a mixed up word, this action refers to a duck quacking, which could also loosely relate to taunting. Taunt 10 times during the fight to destroy the obstacles attached to this node.

“ERTECA AOSCH”

“Create Chaos” is the main message here, relating to the Atomic Heart Fatality from Havik‘s move list. Defeat your opponent then perform the brutal match ending attack by pressing Down, Forward, Down, Back Kick at close-range.

Fire Temple

Mortal Kombat 1 Final Node Klue in Invasion Mode from the Fire Temple Mesa Stage

The last mesa in the Invasion mode host two Klues at the halfway point and end of the stage before the final fight with Hellfire Scorpion. The “Risen and “Fainting” nodes both feature fights with Level 22 characters, Nitara and Kung Lao at first with Li Mei and Cyrax being closer to the finish line. By ready to input specific character Fatalities for both of these Klues to progress toward your rewards.

Klue

How to Solve

“KCIRT TAH”

This phrase can be reorganized to say “Hat Trick”, or one of classic Kung Lao’s Fatalities from his Kameo. Equip Kung Lao as your Kameo then win the fight before inputting the Fatality in question by pressing Close, Forward, Back, Kameo button to solve the Klue.

“Use the element that brings life.”

A reference to the 1995 Mortal Kombat movie, the element of life is water, which is wielded by the fighter Rain. Play as Rain, then perform his The Red Sea finisher after winning the match by inputting Down, Down, Back, Back Kick at close-range.

Every Invasion Klue can be solved in relatively similar ways, but those who unlock the hidden nodes behind them in Mortal Kombat 1 have access to rare rewards for everyone who plays this unique single-player mode.
