As it turns out, the new ice monster is named Shimo, with marketing materials and toy packaging giving a little more information on the character. Interestingly, a cave painting of Shimo was seen in the Call of Duty video game frachise’s 2022 crossover with Godzilla vs. Kong, teasing the villain of Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire years before it actually made its big screen debut.
In the trailer for Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire, the ice Titan Shimo is presented as a monster who lives in the Hollow Earth, with Kong discovering him after a fight with Skar King. Shimo lives behind what seems to be a waterfall of lava, with the creature’s purple eyes peering out from the darkness. Shimo is able to shoot out a destructive beam of ice, with Kong having to use his ax to block it. However, this ice breath has a devastating effect on the surface when Shimo shoots it out from under the sea.

Why Shimo Is A Better Choice For Godzilla X Kong’s Main Villain
Although Shimo has barely been shown off in the marketing materials so far, he is a much better choice than Skar King for Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire‘s main villain. Skar King is just another ape, and while his whip does make him stand out a bit, he is too similar to Kong to be all that interesting. Plus, Godzilla vs. Kong already showed that Godzilla is able to beat a giant ape, with Kong almost being killed by Godzilla. Thus, Skar King isn’t all that much of a threat, meaning that something else is needed to raise the stakes.
Shimo, on the other hand, stands out among the MonsterVerse’s other Titans, which is why the monster is much better for Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire. Shimo’s ice powers are a truly new threat that Godzilla and Kong haven’t faced before, explaining why the danger is big enough to warrant another movie. Shimo is shown being a serious danger to Kong in the trailer, which is why Kong has to enlist the help of Godzilla once again in Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire.
