Monster Hunter World: Iceborne: How to Defeat Tempered Lunastra (The Cold Never Bothered Me)

The Cold Never Bothered Me is a Master Rank Event Quest that only appears at certain points in time. The quest will have players venture to the Seliana Supply Cache to face the “Blue Flame.”

Since this is a time-themed mission, players will need to patiently wait for when the quest becomes live for them to undertake. This quest can only be accessed with the Iceborne expansion.

How The Tempered Lunastra Fights & It’s Weaknesses in Monster Hunter World

The Tempered Lunastra is a very aggressive creature that will use flame-based attacks to cause environmental damage. It will also not hesitate to get up close and personal to physically attack players. This can be in the form of tail swipes or charging at players.

The monster is also immune to fire and resistant to water and thunder. It is weakened by attacks that utilize the dragon and ice elements. In addition to its elemental weakness, the Lunastra’s head and wings are breakable whilst the tail is severable.

Since the Tempered Lunastra is susceptible to dragon and ice attacks, players will need to ensure their weapons loadout contains those elements. No matter what type of weapon it is, whether a long-sword or hammer, it must contain dragon and ice elements in order to damage the Tempered Lunastra.

Another important tip is to have items that either reduce or protect against fire damage and restore health. The Cool Drink helps to lessen the impact fire-based attacks cause. A good item to also possess is the Mega Barrel Bomb which, as the name suggests, is a bomb that causes damage when thrown at a target.

Lastly, players should consider wearing special clothing to further aid them in reducing the damage they sustain. One piece of wear players should acquire before taking this mission is the Fireproof Mantle.

This cloak raises players’ fire resistance and decreases heat and fire damage. Given that the Lunastra specializes in utilizing fire attacks, the Fireproof Mantle is a must-have for players.

Fighting The Tempered Lunastra in Monster Hunter World

The Tempered Lunastra is a powerful foe that should not be underestimated. Players will need to be on their toes if they want to ensure they defeat this behemoth.

As stated earlier, the Tempered Lunastra specializes in large fire-based attacks and charging at the players. With this in mind, there are a few ways that players can use the creature’s fighting style against it to win the battle.

One method players can utilize is moving to the side of the monster when it performs its Forward Rush. This way, while the creature misses its target, players can move in for a sneak attack. Since the Tempered Lunastra’s wings are breakable and the tail is severable, players should focus on those areas when attacking.

Another idea is for players to get up close and personal with the Tempered Lunastra. Since this monster likes to get right on top of its target, players can use that to also deal damage to the winged beast. If that’s the case, players should ensure they have protective equipment such as the Fireproof Mantle to guard against the Lunastra’s fire attacks by lessening the damage.

One last idea is for players to keep their distance. Players should utilize ammo and other long-range weaponry if they wish to be far away from the Tempered Lunastra. The Mega Barrel Bomb is especially useful in this scenario as it causes explosive damage upon impact.

No matter how players wish to battle the beast, the Tempered Lunastra’s three weak points, head, wings, and tail, should be the focus of their attacks. Targeting those three weaknesses will ensure the fight with the Tempered Lunastra ends faster.

Monster Hunter World: Iceborne is available on PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
