Monster Hunter Rise PC Release Date Set, 4K & Uncapped Frame Rate Confirmed

Capcom revealed Monster Hunter Rise’s PC release date at the Tokyo Game Show 2021 along with some of its features, such as support for 4K resolution monitors, uncapped frame rates, and more. Monster Hunter Rise is already on Nintendo Switch, where it faces some considerable hardware restrictions, especially when it comes to frame rate.

Monster Hunter Rise is the latest mainline entry in the popular action RPG series. It was met with critical and commercial acclaim on Nintendo Switch, with many reviewers praising how it streamlined the multiplayer experience. One commonly noted issue with is that it’s a noticeable step down in terms of visual quality from Monster Hunter World, as it’s limited by the hardware of the Nintendo Switch. Capcom announced that Monster Hunter Rise is coming to PC in 2022 earlier this year but didn’t give any specifics. However, many rightly assumed the PC version would remove some – if not all – the technical limitations the game faces on Switch.

At TGS 2021, Capcom revealed Monster Hunter Rise’s PC release date as January 12, 2022. The port will have all of the post-launch DLC the Nintendo Switch version has gotten so far upon release. A new trailer for the game on the official Monster Hunter YouTube channel lists all of the new additions coming the PC port. Monster Hunter Rise will have 4K support, high-res textures for both hunters and monsters, uncapped frame rates, keyboard and mouse input, voice chat, and ultrawide display support. Capcom also announced the Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak expansion will launch on both the Nintendo Switch and PC versions at the same time, and a Monster Hunter Rise demo will be available on Steam on October 13, 2021.

Some of the new content that is coming to Monster Hunter Rise was also unveiled at TGS 2021. The next Capcom DLC will be themed after Ghosts ‘n’ Goblins Resurrection, allowing players to earn Arthur’s gear and transform throwing knives into lances. There will also be a collaboration with Sonic the Hedgehog in November, which will could result in new Palico costumes.

The Monster Hunter franchise initially found success on handheld devices, with the PSP and Nintendo 3DS hosting some of the most popular entries in the series. Monster Hunter World was an unexpected hit on PC, so it’s no surprise Capcom is pushing the technical improvements of Monster Hunter Rise on the platform.

Monster Hunter Rise is available on Nintendo Switch, and it will launch on PC on January 12, 2022.
