Modern Warfare 2’s Amsterdam Level Is Almost Photorealistic

Out of everything Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 has to offer, many fans seem the most surprised about an extremely realistic version of Amsterdam seen in a campaign mission. Although the upcoming Modern Warfare 2′s file size is smaller than its predecessor, everything that has been seen about Infinity Ward’s new CoD title fits with the new wave of visually impressive current-gen games. Being an installment in one of the largest game franchises of all time and introducing new game modes like Warzone 2 and Ground War, Modern Warfare 2 has CoD fans excited for its October 28 release.Despite the anticipation, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2‘s beta, which ran in September, unfortunately left a lot to be desired, as it suffered from hackers ruining the multiplayer experience with exploits. The game also featured controversial new mechanics meant to enhance MW2‘s realism, including, most prominently, the removal of gunfire indicators on the minimap. Additionally, Modern Warfare 2 will adopt Overwatch‘s phone number account restrictions, so while some players are indeed excited, there’s still quite a bit of controversy surrounding CoD: MW2 already.Related: Call of Duty Cheat Makers Racketeering Charges From ActivisionModern Warfare 2 looks very impressive, however, mainly because of the graphics that mimic real life. Specifically, fans like Pak Schaal have discovered that MW2 contains a very convincing and accurate version of Amsterdam in a campaign mission, as reported by GamesRadar. In a video posted by Pak Schaal, the Dutch city in MW2 is shown in all its glory with tourists traveling about, environmental sounds, wet bricks, parked cars, and serenely beautiful water. Even the lighting is realistic and breathtaking.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2’s Visuals Could Rise Above Controversy

Although Modern Warfare 2 contains fan-favorite CoD maps, the campaign’s rendition of Amsterdam has already caught the eye of millions of CoD fans and is definitely something players are looking forward to experiencing. Setting aside the altering of the mini-map, the removal of red dots, and the abundance of hackers on day one of MW2‘s beta launch, it appears that the upcoming CoD installment will indeed have a lot to offer. Of course, the experience will certainly be improved if Infinity Ward can address the complaints players had about the beta.

For those who preordered Modern Warfare 2, the campaign will be available on October 20 alongside some preorder bonuses. For everyone else, MW2 will launch on October 28. Even though some fans worry that Modern Warfare 2‘s crossplay will ruin the game, current-gen console and PC players alike will be able to enjoy Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2‘s realistic Amsterdam, and every other visually impressive location the game has to offer.
