Moana 2 Confirmed At Disney In Surprise Announcement, Scores 2024 Release

In a surprise announcement, Disney CEO Bob Iger confirms Moana 2 is on the way, and it’ll arrive this year. The original Moana was released in 2016 and earned positive reviews on its way to a $629.6 million worldwide gross. It is consistently one of the most popular titles on Disney+ as well.

Per Variety, Iger shared the news of Moana 2 during an appearance on CNBC. Not only did he confirm the movie, but he revealed it will be arriving in theaters on November 27, 2024. This is in addition to the in-development live-action remake of the original movie. The outlet reveals:

“Moana 2” takes audiences on an expansive new voyage with Moana, Maui and a brand-new crew of unlikely seafarers. After receiving an unexpected call from her wayfinding ancestors, Moana must journey to the far seas of Oceania and into dangerous, long-lost waters for an adventure unlike anything she’s ever faced.
