Mitsuki Is The Key To Save Konoha (But Only Boruto Anime Fans Know It)

Mitsuki Is The Key To Save Konoha (But Only Boruto Anime Fans Know It)

Warning: Spoilers for Boruto: Two Blue Vortex chapter #1Mitsuki makes a cryptic statement in the first chapter of Boruto: Two Blue Vortex that preludes to the huge role he could play in the future of the story, but only fans who have watched the anime know what Misuki’s words mean and why they position him as a significant player in saving Konoha from Kawaki. This is one of the first instances where the Boruto manga has finally incorporated some of the anime-only moments.

By creator/supervisor Masashi Kishimoto and artist Mikio Ikemoto, Boruto: Two Blue Vortex chapter #1 features a critical discussion between Mitsuki and Kawaki that ends with Orochimaru’s offspring referring to the latter as the shining sun and himself as the moon. However, a panel shows Mitsuki with a hesitant expression on his face, hinting that he might start to break through the illusion Kawaki created using Eida’s power of Omnipotence. However, the full extent of what this comment means along with its implications is only known to anime fans.

Mitsuki Said That Boruto Is His Sun (But Only In The Anime)

Mitsuki Is The Key To Save Konoha (But Only Boruto Anime Fans Know It)

Ever since his introduction in the anime, Mitsuki has obviously held Boruto in high regard, going so far as referring to him as his coveted sun. This is Mitsuki’s way of expressing his belief that Boruto will help him discover his own path in life, a deeply important goal for the young shinobi. Every major decision that Mitsuki makes in the anime is based on his relationship with Boruto, which not only causes him to even defy the wishes of Orochimaru but actually elicits pride and support from his “father” who sees Mitsuki’s defiance as a positive development, and an important step in discovering who he truly is.

So while manga-only readers are aware of the fact that Mitsuki is now worshiping Kawaki, only those who have watched the anime know why. As Kawaki’s use of Omnipotence has reversed his and Boruto’s position and roles, Mitsuki has poured all the feelings he had for Boruto into Kawaki. However, Mitsuki’s belief in Boruto was so strong and deeply rooted that it’s not a stretch to think that he could start to doubt the new, altered reality that Kawaki created. Still, to fully understand this, fans need to watch the incredibly good Boruto “filler” episodes with Mitsuki’s story, which are actually adapting a special manga story by Kishimoto.

The Latest Example of A Horrible Trend in the Boruto Manga

Mitsuki and Kawaki have similar backstories in Boruto

The manga’s blatant disregard for certain events in the anime has unfortunately diluted Mitsuki’s role in Boruto: Two Blue Vortex. Unknown to manga-only readers, Mitsuki and Boruto share an incredibly deep bond that will hopefully play a role in the upcoming developments. If Mitsuki is able to break free of Kawaki and Eida’s spell, his great power and privileged position will allow him to play a major role in saving Konoha, and if that turns out to be true, Boruto: Two Blue Vortex will finally shine a spotlight on one of the franchise’s most popular but underused characters.
