Milly Alcock’s Supergirl Versus Brainiac Teased In Gorgeous DCU Art

Milly Alcock’s Supergirl Versus Brainiac Teased In Gorgeous DCU Art

Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow fan art teases a battle between Milly Alcock’s Supergirl and Brainiac in the new DC Universe. Alcock was recently cast as the DCU’s Supergirl, with the actress reportedly debuting as Kara Zor-El in James Gunn’s Superman: Legacy. Ana Nogueira is attached to write the actress’ solo film, and with only a few Superman: Woman of Tomorrow details public, fans have started to imagine what the movie could look like.

On Instagram, @t800ruben drew a gorgeous Superman: Woman of Tomorrow fan poster that pits Alcock’s Girl of Steel against Brainiac.

The artist depicted their hopes of Brainiac being Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow‘s main villain and the film’s plot revolving around him bottling Kandor City and Supergirl fighting to save it. While that would be an exciting story, it does not ultimately match the Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow comics, which the movie will adapt.

How Brainiac Could Fit Into Supergirl: Woman Of Tomorrow

Exploring the Possibilities of a Familiar Foe’s Introduction

Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow is based on the comic book of the same name by writer Tom King and artist Bilquis Evely. Brainiac is one of Superman’s most iconic comic book foes and has had a series of important run-ins with Supergirl in the comics and other media; however, the villain was not part of the comic book series. While that hints that Brainiac will not be part of the DCU’s Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, there are still a couple of ways for him to be included.

Like the comics, Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow should show how Krypton exploded, and Kara gets stuck on a floating piece of it, watching her family and friends slowly die over time. While the movie should also focus on Kara’s quest to find Krem of the Yellow Hills like the comics did, that event in her past could be reframed to include Brainiac. The Superman villain has been responsible for Krypton’s destruction in a few iterations.

Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow could open with a flashback sequence that shows Kara trying to escape Krypton’s destruction amid a Brainiac attack and then getting sent flying away on a piece of the planet. If Gunn does not wish to have the film stray from the comic series’ plot, then Brainiac could appear in a post-credits scene. This way, Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow could be a faithful adaptation of the original DC Comics series while also teasing Supergirl’s fight with Brainiac in the DCU’s future.
