Miles Morales Gets the Spider-Man Costume He Deserves as an Official Avenger

Miles Morales Gets the Spider-Man Costume He Deserves as an Official Avenger

Spoilers for Weapon X-Men #1!Over the years, Miles Morales’ version of Spider-Man has stepped up to become his own hero, complete with a unique set of villains, special spider-based powers, and iconic superhero design that sets him apart from his mentor and colleague, the original Spider-Man, Peter Parker. Acting as a member of the Avengers in an alternate reality, Miles has received a perfect redesign for his status as one of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, one that makes his old costume look dated by comparison.

Swinging onto the comic scene wearing a red and black outfit that took cues from Peter Parker’s signature red and blue design, Miles has only changed his look a few times since his debut — most recently when he donned a set of neon pink superhero streetwear Miles designed himself — yet always ends up reverting to his original costume at some point down the line.

A new costumed appearance debuting in the first issue of Weapon X-Men, Miles is shown to be part of the Uncanny Avengers, a team consisting of this reality’s Captain America, Captain Marvel, Magneto, Jean Grey, and Transonic. Jumping into action wearing a more sleek and uniformed costume that uses an all-black bodysuit as a base, Miles adds in an oversized Venom-esque red spider logo, red eye and feet accents, and even a crimson-tinged set of webs that he shoots from his wrists, completing a look that solidifies him as one of the team’s most stylish heroes.

Doing away with the webbed design of his last costume, Miles paves the way for a look that’s reminiscent of Peter Parker’s black symbiote suit, though it’s unclear whether Miles’ new outfit has any special abilities, as Peter’s did, or if it’s just a regular uniform that while not incredibly different from his usual look, still feels appropriately official and Spider-Man-like in its simplicity. Bouncing around the battlefield as he bobs and weaves around the Wolverines, Miles is seen later in the issue pulling up his mask, confirming that this suit isn’t high-tech or even symbiote-created in nature.

So while Miles probably won’t be wearing this specific costume anytime soon on Earth-616, its red and black design clearly takes some cues from Spider-Man’s original fan-made black suit design from 1984’s Secret Wars, a contest-winning outfit that Marvel tweaked into the iconic symbiote suit it is today. Miles MoralesSpider-Man deserves a spot on any and all Avengers rosters that exist across Marvel’s sprawling multiverse, with this particular iteration of the character finally getting the matching superhero threads he deserves, too.

Spider-Man

Spider-Man is the name given to several individuals who have employed a spider-moniker throughout Marvel Comics. Typically gaining their powers through a bite from a radioactive spider, the different Spider-Man heroes employ super-strength, agility, and intellect while utilizing webbing to swing and tangle up their foes. The most notable of these Spider-Men is Peter Parker, who remains one of the most popular superheroes throughout the world.
