Rabble Is Miles Morales’ Most Personal Enemy

Rabble faces down Miles Morales and explains the origin of her name.

Rabble was introduced in Miles Morales: Spider-Man #1, as an antagonist Miles unintentionally created by himself. Raneem Rashad grew up with adoring, Jordanian immigrant parents who sacrificed everything to ensure their gifted daughter could lead a better life. After her mother’s early death, her father became a shell of himself, regaining hope only with the thought of enrolling Raneem into the Visions Academy. She lost her spot to Miles in the lottery, and believes that moment ruined what was left of her life. She became one of the “rabble,” dedicating all her energy toward taking revenge on Miles.

From childhood, Rabble was able to communicate with machines. Her father would bring his toddler daughter to commune with an uncooperative cash register; her mother told her she had more of an affinity for circuits than people. She has poured all her gifts into revenge, threatening Miles’ friends and family along the way. The two had a major showdown in Miles Morales: Spider-Man #5, which left Rabble out of commission, her powers on the fritz. This has given her even more reason to hate Miles. Raneem only has rage left, and Miles Morales: Spider-Man #18 promises it on full display.

Miles Morales Is Going To Need Every Lesson He’s Learned As A Marvel Hero

Rabble explains that her powers are different after fighting Spider-Man

Miles Morales knows why Rabble is coming for him, and he’s already expressed his sympathy for what she’s had to endure in her life. He has attempted to break through to her, to no avail. It’s clear from their previous encounters that Rabble won’t be deterred, as she’s intent on leaving him with nothing and no one. Spidey is going to have to dig deep and fight back. Though he has Ms. Marvel, Starling, and others to help him, Miles Morales is going to need everything three hundred adventures in the Marvel Universe have taught him to overcome Rabble.

Miles Morales: Spider-Man #18 will available March 27, 2024 from Marvel Comics.
