The Archie gang may want to look out because they’re crossing paths with Halloween’s Michael Myers. A celebration of the iconic horror movie’s 45th anniversary has led to several official pieces of art fans absolutely need to see for themselves.

Horror news site Bloody Disgusting had an exclusive first look at Michael Myers’ trip to Riverdale. Archie Comics’ imprint Archie Horror revealed that it would be making its first horror convention debut at the Halloween-focused event, H45: 45 Years of Terror. To honor the nearly five decades Michael has spent terrorizing Haddonfield, Archie Horror is bringing two prints to the convention that see the iconic killer interacting with notable Archie characters. Artist Matt Talbot brings Michael to the Archie Universe in these prints. One shows the slasher stalking Betty, Veronica, and the teenage witch Sabrina in a tableau similar to a scene from the original Halloween. Talbot’s other print shows Sabrina relaxing at home watching a horror movie as Michael peers into her house with only Salem picking up on the killer’s presence. The prints will be sold exclusively at H45: 45 Years of Terror from September 29th to October 1st.

Despite the wholesome image of the Archie Comics brand, the comic publisher has been in the horror game for about a decade. Fans everywhere couldn’t believe their eyes when Afterlife with Archie hit the stands and brought genuine thrills, chills, and kills to Riverdale and its lovable cast of teens. The groundbreaking series led to a sister series, The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, and the creation of the Archie Horror imprint. Since Archie’s zombie story made waves with readers, the publisher has put its characters through dozens of gruesome adventures.

But bringing Halloween’s Michael Myers to interact with Archie’s characters is a development no fan likely saw coming. That said, it’s not that out of the ordinary. In addition to the stories under the Archie Horror imprint, Archie Comics has had plenty of scary and bizarre crossovers with properties like Predator and Sharknado. And while some fans may be disappointed that they won’t be able to read the story of Michael visiting Riverdale, these prints are still an amazing sight to see. Talbot’s art isn’t just an amazing tribute, it’s a milestone in Archie’s evolution into comics’ most unexpected horror franchise.

Halloween Crossover Shows How Far Archie Horror Has Come

A decade ago, it seemed highly dubious that Archie Comics would ever commission an official crossover with Halloween. But in a post-Afterlife with Archie world, almost anything seems possible for the franchise. The zombie story defied expectations about what the Archie brand was and where its stories were willing to go. With dozens of horror stories under Archie Horror’s belt, it suits the brand well to see its characters interacting with an icon as notorious as Michael Myers. Talbot’s exclusive prints are a fun idea and a great tribute to both the Halloween and the Archie Horror franchises.
