Melissa Barrera addresses her possible return to the franchise in the future after her Scream 7 firing. After the success of 2022’s legacy sequel, Sam and Tara Carpenter (Jenna Ortega) take center stage in last year’s Scream 6. The film was a hit, but its planned follow-up has suffered a variety of setbacks, starting with Barrera’s firing last November due to social media posts about the Israel-Hamas conflict that were deemed antisemitic.
In a new interview with THR, Barrera comments on whether there’s any chance Sam could make a return in a future film after the upcoming Scream 7. The actor notably doesn’t shut the door on the possibility of a comeback, but she doesn’t paint a promising picture. Check out her comment below:
“I’ve learned to never say never, but also a lot of things would have to happen for Sam to come back. For now, next page, next chapter, and then we’ll see what the future holds.”
