Rapper and Legendary judge Megan Thee Stallion is currently recovering from gunshot wounds from an incident on Sunday morning. She and fellow rapper Tory Lanez were stopped by the police after reports that five gunshots were heard near a party in the Hollywood Hills. Megan addressed the incident and cleared up rumors in an Instagram post earlier today.
Megan Thee Stallion is a rapper from Houston, Texas, and a judge on HBO Max’s ballroom dance competition show, Legendary. Her massive hit “Savage Remix” featuring Beyoncé recently went number one on the Billboard charts and produced many Tik Tok dance videos. Megan has been on the rise for years, and rose to fame last summer when she coined the phrase, “hot girl summer,” and released her mixtape Fever. The same summer, she was featured on a Chance The Rapper track called “Handsome,” and performed it with him on Saturday Night Live. Her latest project, called Suga, gave her hits with “Savage” and “Captain Hook.” Her latest single, “Girls In The Hood” was released two weeks ago and has already garnered over 10 million streams on Spotify.
On Sunday morning at 4:30 AM, TMZ learned of a disturbance call to the police in the Hollywood Hills regarding five gunshots. The shots were fired outside of a party that Megan and Tory Lanez were attending. Earlier on Saturday evening, the two were in a video posted on Megan’s Instagram live at a pool party with Kylie Jenner. It appears that they were party hopping throughout Saturday night. When police arrived, they were told someone in an SUV had an argument outside the party that resulted in gunshots. The SUV took off after the shots were fired. When police caught up with the SUV, they found Tory Lanez, Megan, and another woman inside. There was a gun in the glove compartment and Tory Lanez was arrested for concealing a weapon, but has not been linked to the gunshots. An initial video of the incident showed Megan in a bathing suit putting her hands up, but she was not arrested. Police have named her as a victim in the shooting, and took her to the hospital to have bullets removed from her foot.
Although the shooter remains unnamed, Megan responded to rumors regarding the incident earlier today on Instagram. She emphasized that she was not arrested, and that she was a victim of the shooting. “I suffered gunshot wounds, as a result of a crime that was committed against me,” she wrote, “and done with the intention to physically harm me.” Megan also wrote that she needed surgery to remove the bullets.
As for her outlook on the incident, Meg wrote, “I’m incredibly grateful to be alive and that I’m expected to make a full recovery.” She will be continuing to recover, and wants to get back to making music as soon as possible. The comments on her post were flooded with well wishes, including from artists Kehlani, Chloe x Halle, Normani, Juicy J and Aminé.
