MCU’s Most Mysterious Phase 4 Hero Returns For Their Own Series In Disney+ Poster Mock-Up

MCU’s Most Mysterious Phase 4 Hero Returns For Their Own Series In Disney+ Poster Mock-Up

Marvel Studios introduced Man-Thing during the Werewolf by Night Special Presentation in Phase 4, debuting one of the weirdest new heroes in the MCU, who has now been imagined in a fan poster leading his own dedicated Special Presentation on Disney+. After the conclusion of the MCU’s Infinity Saga, Marvel Studios introduced a slew of new characters to the MCU, many of which debuted on Disney+ throughout Phases 4 and 5. Marvel Studios’ MCU expansion in the Multiverse Saga has included the development of new banners, including Special Presentations and the new Marvel Spotlight, and the former has been used to adapt some of Marvel Comics weirder characters for live-action.

Marvel Studios’ first Special Presentation introduced Gael García Bernal as Jack Russell, a.k.a. Werewolf by Night, and Laura Donnelly as Elsa Bloodstone. 2022’s Werewolf by Night also marked the debut of Man-Thing in the MCU, and though the floral creature’s future in the MCU is unclear, a new fan poster shared by bensolo_cup features Man-Thing in his own Special Presentation.

The poster suggests that a Man-Thing Special Presentation could be developed for Halloween 2025, expanding on the monstrous side of the MCU. Aside from being an incredibly strange character, Man-Thing could also have a pivotal role in the future of the MCU’s Multiverse Saga.

What Man-Thing’s Future In The MCU Looks Like

During a February 2023 interview with Comicbook.com, Marvel Studios producer Stephen Broussard that the MCU would start to explore the “more monster side and the supernatural and the occult in a very organic way.” This perhaps teases the formation of the MCU’s version of Marvel Comics’ Legion of Monsters, a prominent supernatural team of which Man-Thing is an important part of. Doctor Strange and Werewolf by Night are notable members of the Legion of Monsters in Marvel Comics, so their importance in the MCU could hint at the team coming together. While Man-Thing could join this team, he could also have a much more crucial role in the Multiverse Saga.

Man-Thing is a key player in Marvel Comics’ multiverse stories due to his status as the guardian of the Nexus of All Realities. The Nexus runs through every alternate reality, with each reality assigned its own protector. Man-Thing is the protector for Earth-616’s Nexus, with his artificial mutations connecting him to the mystical energies surrounding the Nexus. This role in Marvel Comics perhaps sets up Man-Thing as a pivotal character in the MCU, though this storyline hasn’t yet been introduced for the strange Phase 4 character. If Man-Thing returns in the MCU’s future, it’s possible that he could be used to seriously advance the Multiverse Saga.
