MCU Theory Completely Rewrites Doctor Strange’s Power Levels

Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) is one of the most powerful characters in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and one theory completely rewrites his power levels, making him more interesting and complex. The MCU is packed with complex and powerful characters, both heroes and villains, and one of the most popular ones is Doctor Strange. Stephen Strange made his MCU debut in his solo movie as part of the Infinity Saga, and he has since appeared in five movies, between cameo appearances, minor roles, and main roles.

Unlike other MCU characters, Doctor Strange wasn’t born with superpowers nor are they the direct result of some accident or strange event. Instead, Strange learned everything he now knows at Kamar-Taj, under the teachings of the Ancient One (Tilda Swinton). However, Doctor Strange continues to learn more about the Mystic Arts and how far his abilities can go, so the audience hasn’t really seen the extent of his powers – and now a theory completely rewrites his powers to unbelievable levels, making him more interesting but potentially dangerous.

Doctor Strange is undoubtedly one of the most powerful heroes on Earth, but some of his feats stand above the rest as particularly impressive.

MCU Theory Calls Doctor Strange A Walking Infinity Gauntlet

A theory posted on Reddit shows how Strange’s powers are pretty much like those of the Infinity Gauntlet with all the Infinity Stones mounted on it. The six Stones are Space, Reality, Power, Soul, Mind, and Time, and they are immensely powerful gems tied to different aspects of the universe as they were created by the Big Bang from six singularities. Only beings of immense power can directly use the Stones, and in order to use them all at the same time, they have to be mounted on the Infinity Gauntlet.

Each Infinity Stone has unique properties that grant the wielder different abilities, so when they are used at the same time, they grant immense power, enough to wipe out half of life in the universe as Thanos did and bring them back as Tony Stark did. The theory, then, calls Strange “a walking Infinity Gauntlet” by showing how some of his abilities fit each Infinity Stone. The Power Stone grants its wielder energy manipulation capabilities, which Strange already has, while the Space Stone grants control over space itself, and thus is used to open portals, which Strange often does.

The Reality Stone grants control over the fabric of reality itself, and Strange displayed this ability during the Battle of Titan against Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War. The Soul Stone can manipulate the soul and resurrect and conjure the spiritual representation of the deceased, as well as give sentience to inanimate objects, which the author of the theory compares to Strange’s astral projection abilities. The Time Stone gives absolute control over time, which Strange has as he literally carried the Time Stone in the Eye of Agamotto.

Last but not least, the Mind Stone grants complete control over the hearts and minds of others, and Strange has shown his mind control abilities on different occasions, but mostly in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Because of all this, Doctor Strange is pretty much a human Infinity Gauntlet, though his abilities don’t have the same power level as the Stones themselves.

How Powerful Doctor Strange Really Is In The MCU

Doctor Strange’s abilities and skills have improved and increased a lot since his MCU debut in his first solo movie. By the time of the events of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Strange had a lot more control of the Mystic Arts, but the conflict with Wanda Maximoff and America Chavez led him to explore other, more sinister abilities through the Darkhold, such as dreamwalking and possession, as he possessed the corpse of one of his variants.

Doctor Strange is currently one of the most powerful characters in the MCU, and now that he’s dealing with the consequences of using the Darkhold, it’s to be seen how far his power will go, both for good and bad.
