A recent theory has suggested that this variant of Deadpool is actually the MCU’s version of the character. Given that Deadpool 3‘s story promises to merge the 20th Century Fox universe with that of the MCU via the multiverse, it makes sense for multiple variants of the character to be introduced. Therefore, it would also be logical to reveal that the MCU – a universe that has hundreds of active superheroes – already has a Deadpool who will embark on a quest with another Deadpool variant and Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine.

It would be another hilarious joke for the MCU’s Deadpool to look more like a stereotypical hero with his long, flowing hair and reflective supersuit with no scars just for Fox’s Deadpool to kill him. Deadpool and Deadpool 2 regularly played up jokes about the physical attractiveness of superheroes including Jackman’s Wolverine, meaning it would be perfectly self-aware for Fox’s Deadpool to kill a more stereotypically heroic Ryan Reynolds as the MCU’s variant.
