MCU Deadpool Is Killed By Ryan Reynolds’ Fox Deadpool in Wild Deadpool 3 Theory

A wild Deadpool 3 theory suggests that Ryan Reynolds’ character from the 20th Century Fox movies will kill the MCU’s merc with a mouth variant in the upcoming film. Excitement for Deadpool 3 has begun to grow in light of filming wrapping on the film. Contributing to this anticipation is the unlikely scenario of Deadpool 3 being the only Marvel movie releasing in 2024 after the MCU’s tendency to put out two-to-four movies a year since 2013.

Therefore, Deadpool 3 will receive the attention it deserves, especially with the film being expected to tie massively into upcoming Marvel movies in Phases 5 and 6. Spawning out of the excitement for the film are various theories as to how Deadpool 3 will transition the character from the two 20th Century Fox movies set in the X-Men universe to the mainline MCU. One of these rumors stands above the crowd in relation to recent Deadpool 3 set photos and claims that Dedapool will solidify his place in the MCU by killing that universe’s Wade Wilson variant.

Deadpool 3 Theory: The “Man-Bun” Deadpool Is The MCU’s Variant

Deadpool 3’s Set Photos highlight a different Deadpool to the 20th Century Fox variant.

An interesting element surrounding Deadpool 3 is that the film was shot mostly on location. This meant that, more so than usual, set photos were leaked which offered several interesting details about the potential story of Deadpool 3. One of these set photos in question proved that the film will include two different variants of Deadpool: the titular one from the 20th Century Fox franchise and another who sports a man-bun and a reflective, bright supersuit without the distinctive facial scarring of the character.

A recent theory has suggested that this variant of Deadpool is actually the MCU’s version of the character. Given that Deadpool 3‘s story promises to merge the 20th Century Fox universe with that of the MCU via the multiverse, it makes sense for multiple variants of the character to be introduced. Therefore, it would also be logical to reveal that the MCU – a universe that has hundreds of active superheroes – already has a Deadpool who will embark on a quest with another Deadpool variant and Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine.

Wade Killing The MCU Deadpool Would Fit The Movie’s Themes & Humor

The MCU Deadpool theory would only be complete with Fox Deadpool killing his variant.

While a quest involving Fox’s Deadpool, Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine, and an MCU variant of Wade Wilson sounds promising, this theory suggests it would be better for the former to kill the latter. Firstly, one of the thematic elements of Deadpool 3 will be exploring how the titular character makes his way from the Fox X-Men universe to the MCU. This could be explained by Deadpool killing the man-bun MCU versions of the character and taking his place as Marvel Studios’ core variant going forward.

Furthermore, this explanation of Wade becoming the MCU Deadpool would work perfectly with the franchise’s humor. Deadpool and Deadpool 2 were not afraid to poke fun at various franchises, from the one in which it existed to the MCU and beyond. Similarly, the franchise’s humor has been exceedingly meta due to the references to other films, characters, and storylines. This means that there would be no better way to poke meta-fun at another franchise than by having Deadpool kill the MCU variant and take his place.

Also, the Deadpool variant that could be from the MCU has a physical look that would match this humor. It would be another hilarious joke for the MCU’s Deadpool to look more like a stereotypical hero with his long, flowing hair and reflective supersuit with no scars just for Fox’s Deadpool to kill him. Deadpool and Deadpool 2 regularly played up jokes about the physical attractiveness of superheroes including Jackman’s Wolverine, meaning it would be perfectly self-aware for Fox’s Deadpool to kill a more stereotypically heroic Ryan Reynolds as the MCU’s variant.

How The MCU Having An Already-Active Deadpool Could Work

The MCU’s past has suggested an already-active Deadpool could be present in the franchise’s continuity.

Deadpool looks coy while Spider-Man looks shocked

While many may question how the MCU could have a Deadpool who has not appeared until Deadpool 3, the franchise has already told a similar story in the past. In Captain America: Civil War it was revealed that Spider-Man had been active in the MCU for six months. This was written smartly and did not feel out of place, meaning the MCU has set the precedent for superheroes to be active under the radar of the films. This could be the case with Deadpool 3, only for Fox’s Deadpool to come along and replace his variant in a suitably meta fashion.
