MCU Daredevil Cameo Officially Revealed In No Way Home Digital Trailer

The new Spider-Man: No Way Home trailer promoting its upcoming home and digital release includes footage of Daredevil’s first MCU film appearance. Years after Marvel TV and Netflix’s critically acclaimed Daredevil series was canceled, Charlie Cox reprised his role as Matt Murdock, this time on the big screen via the Jon Watts-directed Spider-Man: No Way Home. Acting as Peter Parker’s (Tom Holland) lawyer following the fallout from Spider-Man: Far From Home, Matt Murdock only had one scene in the film, but it was more than enough for fans to be excited about the character’s future in the MCU.

Similar to Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield, Cox was long rumored to appear in Spider-Man: No Way Home. He, too, denied his involvement in the film multiple times when asked about the speculations. But, that didn’t stop fans from holding hope that he would be in it, especially given the legal snafu that Peter was in. Despite only being in one fairly brief scene, his cameo effectively confirmed that Cox will continue to play Daredevil in the main MCU franchise with the high possibility of him crossing paths with his arch-nemesis, Kingpin (Vincent D’Onofrio).

Shortly after it was announced that Spider-Man: No Way Home‘s home and digital versions will be available on April 12, a brand-new trailer was unveiled. The clip, which is almost a minute long, features a mix of movie and behind-the-scenes footage. That includes Daredevil’s scene with Peter, May (Marisa Tomei), and Happy (Jon Favreau). At this point, it’s still unclear if Cox is playing the same character he did on Netflix’s Daredevil. While the idea for Marvel TV’s project was to tie into the primary MCU, that never really fully materialized as the films didn’t reference the events of their previous small-screen counterparts. D’Onofrio, which also recently returned to the Marvel world by playing Wilson Fisk on Hawkeye, claims that his villain is the same version of the Kingpin from his old show. But between the lack of confirmation from Marvel Studios and the existence of the multiverse, Marvel Studios could easily say that the Daredevil characters are from an entirely different reality. This allows them to move forward with Cox and D’Onofrio’s respective roles without the baggage from their previous appearances.

With Daredevil and the rest of the Marvel TV/Netflix slate coming to Disney+ (but not in the US), Marvel Studios has the chance to finally answer this query. But in any case, fans aren’t exactly that caught up about this particular query. Many of them are just glad that Cox and D’Onofrio can continue playing their respective Marvel roles in the MCU considering how both great they were. For Daredevil, in particular, fans are already looking forward to where he might pop back up after his Spider-Man: No Way Home appearance.
