MCU Actor David Dastmalchian Reveals Which “On The Fringe” Marvel Comics Characters He’d Love To Write For

David Dastmalchian reveals which iconic Marvel characters he wants to tackle as a writer. Dastmalchian is deeply ingrained in the world of superheroes and comics, from his love for the comic medium to playing multiple characters in both the MCU and DC Universe to now writing his own comic book series, Count Crowley. Dastmalchian can bring a unique perspective to these characters and this world as not only a fan but a storyteller, as both a writer and an actor who has played in the worlds of DC and Marvel.

In an exclusive interview with Screen Rant for Faster, Purple Worm! Kill! Kill! Dastmalchian shared his desire to work on Marvel projects as a writer. He reveals which iconic characters he’d love to tackle as a comic book writer, many of whom are famous horror characters. Dastmalchian explained why many of the anti-heroes and darker characters excited him as long-time favorites. Check out Dastmalchian’s full quote below:

David Dastmalchian: In the world of Marvel, my favorite characters are a lot of those heroes and anti-heroes that were creeping around in the shadows, lurking around and kicking it with groups on the fringe, like the Defenders, the Midnight Suns, the West Coast Avengers. So I love characters like Morbius, and I think that Moon Knight is one of the coolest comic book characters ever created. I think that Tigre would be so cool to see explored in a new way. Yeah, I would love that.

I’d love to maybe find a new offshoot of more obscure heroes that are kicking it around in the shadows. Who could take, maybe if it’s not a rebirth of the West Coast Avengers, because they just did that actually recently, but in a more fun, bright kind of eighties way. I would like to do it in a, I don’t even know. I’d love to get a chance to write some Moon Knight stories. I think Werewolf by Night, such a fantastic character. I love Dr. Strange. I love The Hulk.

I think the Invincible Hulk was one of the better comic runs of the last couple of years. Hell yeah, man. And you name it. There’s probably no character that if I had the chance to get to write or create on that I wouldn’t be excited about. I love that world so much.

Count Crowley Makes David Dastmalchian A Perfect Fit For Certain MCU Characters

Dastmalchian can bring a unique voice to Marvel, tapping into not only his own experience in this world as an actor and his long-time love for these characters but also his experience writing a horror comic. Count Crowley shows his ability to balance the more external monstrous elements of horror with Crowley fighting against literal monsters like vampires and werewolves, but he can also dig into the internal horrors of this world, like Crowley’s drinking problem. That dichotomy of the struggle between internal and external hardships is at the core of so many superheroes, especially those Dastmalchian specifically named.

9 MCU Characters That Could Form The Midnight Sons

As the MCU’s Phase 4 continues to unfold, characters from the Midnight Sons are slowly being introduced into the universe, getting fans excited.

Dastmalchian could bring another element to this as well with his experience on film sets, making him perfect to create an ideal arc to be adapted for a Marvel series or movie. Moon Knight, the Hulk, Doctor Strange, and Werewolf By Night have all become players in the MCU. As their roles expand and their story continues, Dastmalchian could create stories that translate to the big or small screen more easily.

He could be the perfect person to adapt an already existing comic, as well, or to continue the MCU arcs of some of these characters, especially the more horror-influenced ones like Moon Knight and Werewolf By Night. Dastmalchian has a deep love for Marvel, and hopefully, he’ll have the opportunity to express this as a writer after making his mark with smaller MCU characters.
