MCU: 10 Best Memes That Perfectly Sum Up Daredevil As A Character

In a surprising turn of events, Marvel Studios announced at San Diego Comic-Con 2022 that the series Daredevil: Born Again will be part of Phase 5. Reprised by Charlie Cox, The Man Without Fear is already a busy character in the Multiverse Saga, with his MCU debut appearance in Spider-Man: No Way Home and soon appearing in She-Hulk and Echo.

As a lawyer in the day and a vigilante at night, Matt Murdock became one of the most complex characters who fought for justice in two different spectrums. Yet, he always maintained his morality and religious values when it came to it. But his virtue is consistently put to the test by villains like Wilson Fisk, so fans did not miss the opportunity to illustrate Matt’s venture as the Daredevil in funny memes.

Matt Is Back!

Matt Murdock may not be the most reliable character, but fans are hoping he’s going to save the MCU. Marvel fans have recently expressed their confusion around the MCU’s current trajectory, so the announcement at Comic Con provided some much need clarification on what the future looks like.

Matt’s supposed to appear in She-Hulk: Attorney At Law and made a brief cameo in Spiderman: No Way Home, but the connection between these events and his involvement remains unclear. Either way, fans can expect a lot more Matt Murdock in the future, so he’s on his way to the MCU for sure.

Daredevil Fighting Enemies In Hallway Scenes

Daredevil is known for a lot of things, especially his fighting skills. After being blinded as a young boy, Matt took up training to cope with the sudden change in his life and learned hand-to-hand combat from Stick.

The original series featured some incredible fight scenes, especially ones where Matt was cornered or stuck in a hallway against his enemies. It became a running joke between fans, where every few episodes, there seemed to be a new hallway where Matt was stuck, surrounded by enemies, yet managed to overtake his enemies one by one. Of course, the hallway scenes became quite an iconic trademark for the original Netflix series, and this announcement could only mean more hallway scenes.

Wilson Fisk’s Enemy

Wilson Fisk may be a lot of things, but it took him a while to piece two and two together and make the connection between Matt Murdock and Daredevil. Frank Castle seemingly made the connection quicker than Fisk.

Using a hilarious twist on the WandaVision meme, it shows how Fisk must have felt when he realized it was the same person ruining his life both in court and on the street. Matt was a busy man, fighting Fisk at night and in the courtroom. It was Matt Murdock all along.

Matt Is A Good Lawyer

Matt Murdock’s appearance in Spiderman: No Way Home was even bigger for some fans than Andrew Garfield or Tobey Maguire’s return. His brief cameo made perfect sense for his character, as he acted as legal advice for Peter Parker and resided in New York.

However, he almost gives away his identity when he catches a brick thrown through the window of Parker’s apartment. Given that Matt Murdock’s persona outside of his vigilante nights is a blind lawyer, his ability to catch a brick mid-throw confused Peter Parker. Matt tried to play it off, saying he was simply a good lawyer, but only time will tell if fellow street hero Peter Parker believed him or not.

His Super Hearing

After losing his sight, Matt’s other senses were heightened, including his hearing. This meant he can often hear other people’s heartbeats or even conversations happening streets away.

His super hearing has most likely had some unpleasant side effects, but a funny one, as pointed out by this meme, is that he can hear funny conversations and jokes from blocks away. It conjures the funny mental image of Matt laughing to himself at a joke he heard streets away and having to explain to people why he’s laughing.

Matt vs. Frank

Daredevil season 2 saw a lot of introductions and new characters, perhaps none as important as Frank Castle, a.k.a. The Punisher. Most of the season revolved around Frank’s sudden appearance, and the havoc he was wreaking on both Hell’s Kitchen and Matt’s life.

Several scenes between Matt and Frank saw the two fighting or trying to get out of each other’s way. Fans have commented on the funny side, given that Matt spent most of this season chasing Frank and trying to keep him from killing anyone else.

Matt’s Friends

One of the biggest subplots of Daredevil is Karen and Foggy’s friendship with Matt and how they all struggle with Matt’s second identity. There have been several painful scenes where the three have launched vicious words at each other in moments of anger.

Season 3 saw Matt struggle with his friendships and his disappointment at some of the decisions they made. For a while, Matt’s frustration grew as he swore that he didn’t need friends or people in his life who disappointed him, which saw many fans draw similarities between this popular meme format and Matt Murdock’s actions.

The Good Catholic

A lot of Matt’s struggles and backstory are based on his Catholic upbringing and his life in the church. This history shapes his decision-making, but he also deals with this conflict between what is morally right and what is Catholic.

It also must be infuriating for his enemies, especially Fisk, who can’t comprehend that Daredevil still sees the good in them. Matt often has the moral high ground in most of his fights – especially against Fisk – but his ability to forgive is one of his best traits, according to fans.

Matt Killed Daredevil

After several near-death experiences and brutal beatings, Matt says he’s leaving Daredevil behind and isn’t returning to his vigilante days. He swears to his friends that he won’t put himself or them at risk again if his identity is revealed and made public.

This obviously doesn’t last long, but fans had fun making memes about the supposed ‘death’ of Daredevil at Matt Murdock’s hands. This popular meme of the Flash had fans of both the Marvel and DC laughing.

Listening To His City

As previously mentioned, Matt has super hearing. There are several shots in the show – especially the first season – where fans see Matt sitting atop an apartment or fire escape just listening to the city and its sounds.

Some fans find this amusing since Matt spends his spare time listening to Hell’s Kitchen. There are obvious reasons why he does this, like to listen for crime or people in need, but it does make for funny memes to imagine Matt spending all his time sitting in silence listening to New York.
