THE NEW GATE, a very popular isekai, and MMORPG light novel, is set to receive an anime adaptation during the Spring 2024 anime season. There are many beloved isekai airing this year, and this fusion of genres looks to be a highly anticipated one.
The anime was announced back on November 9, 2023, by the official publisher, AlphaPolis. Information such as the cast, staff, and teaser was revealed, but there was no word on the release date, that is until now.
THE NEW GATE is scheduled to air on April 14, 2024, joining many anticipated series such as Kaiju No. 8 and Demon Slayer.

The light novel started in 2014 and has garnered a huge fanbase, selling over 2.5 million copies, and these numbers will only go up once the anime starts airing. The series is about Shin, the best player in the deadly New Gate game, who manages to beat the boss and free the other players from the game. However, things take a turn for the worse when a light flashes, and he suddenly finds himself in the game 500 years later. With no recollection of what happened, he explores the game to find what mysteries await half a millennium later.
The voice acting department is surprisingly stacked, bringing many experienced professionals to deliver an incredible experience. The main character, Shin, will be voiced by Kenshi Ono, the man behind Giorno Giovanna from Jojo’s Bizarre Adventures. Schnee Raizar will be voiced by the talent behind Nobara Kugisaki from Jujutsu Kaisen, Asami Seto. The actors behind the side characters are equally amazing, so it seems the anime will be just fine in that area.

April had 3 major isekai titles released, namely Konosuba, Jobless Reincarnation, and That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime, so it seems like THE NEW GATE will have a lot of competition. However, given the fact that a loyal fanbase exists, and the trailer looks good, there is little to worry about as the series will stand out from the crowd and do good.
