Venom has had a lot of hard battles in recent years, but the hardest fight of his life is coming up as Eddie Brock goes to war with Dylan Brock. This upcoming event, known as the Venom War, will truly test the limits of their bond, and will definitively prove which character is the true Venom once and for all.
The biggest event for Venom fans this year will pit father and son against each other in Venom War by Al Ewing, Iban Coello, and Philip Tan. Promo art shared by ComicBook.com shows the two facing off, with Eddie’s distant future form (and major villain) Meridius between them, unleashing a blast of energy. The reason why they’re currently fighting is unknown, but both Eddie and Dylan have assembled their own team to help take down the other. Eddie’s team sports Bedlam, Flash Thompson’s Agent Anti-Venom, Wilde, and Tyro.
On Dylan’s side of the army, he’s assembled Normie Osborn’s Red Goblin, Sleeper, Flexo, and – most surprisingly – Black Widow with her new symbiote. This is a lot of power on both sides, and this father/son war is surely going to be devastating for everyone involved.

Eddie Brock Has Become a God – But Can He Beat His Son?
Dylan and Eddie’s relationship has been under incredible strain ever since it was introduced. Eddie was completely unaware of Dylan’s existence for the first decade of his life. Then, instead of typical father/son bonding, the two had to try and survive against both Carnage and later Knull, the first King in Black. When this was all finished, and they both miraculously came out alive, Eddie was crowned the new King in Black and became lost in time and space – all while Dylan found himself hunted in the present. Naturally, this hasn’t given Dylan a glowing view of his father, and it seems all that resentment might finally reach a boiling point.
So far, Marvel has been tight-lipped about the plot of Venom War, however Venom’s latest era has been a mind-bending epic across time and the multiverse. There are multiple incarnations of Eddie Brock running around, several of who have tried to kill Dylan. Meanwhile, Dylan has been learning about his own origin, and accessing powers which may threaten the entire symbiote species. Given the heroes and villains arrayed on either side, it’s clear this isn’t a family squabble, but a battle that will engulf all symbote-kind (though of the two teams, it’s worth noting that the outright villains are backing Eddie.)
Eddie and Dylan’s relationship has never been great, with them having to survive several apocalypse scenarios and then Eddie immediately (albeit accidentally) abandoning his son. While there was always hope their relationship could get better, and there’s no denying that Eddie wanted that, this war might finally be the thing that separates the two for good. But it might not just be Dylan that Eddie is going to lose. Dylan is the one with the original Venom symbiote currently, which means depending on how this war ends, Eddie might just be losing both his son and his best friend in Venom.
