Just in time for the momentous Multiversal team-up of Wolverine and Deadpool in this summer’s MCU film Deadpool & Wolverine, the Merc With a Mouth and iconic X-Men hero band together on a Multiversal saga in Weapon X-Traction. This explosive event will celebrate the bloody and hilarious “friendship” between Wade and Logan right as the two meet in live-action for the first time since Deadpool’s disastrous appearance in X-Men Origins: Wolverine.
Wolverine and Deadpool have a long history together, starting from their involvement in the Weapon X program, and have been bitter enemies and strained allies since, working together as often as they have tried to kill each other.

Weapon X-Traction, from writer Ryan North (Fantastic Four, Adventure Time) and artist Javier Garrón (Uncanny Avengers), will be published as a series of backup stories in eight different comics – at no additional cost – starting in July’s Incredible Hulk #14.
Wolverine And Deadpool Have A Long History As Frenemies
Deadpool and Wolverine will always be intrinsically tied together because Wade Wilson’s origins as a mercenary and antihero began when he was experimented on by Weapon X. Deadpool’s terminal cancer was partially cured by Department K – the Canadian branch of Weapon X – implanting Wolverine’s DNA into Wade, giving him Logan’s impressive healing factor, though Deadpool’s would eventually be even more powerful. Since then Deadpool has worked as a mercenary for countless heroes and villains, often sent to assassinate Wolverine and failing every time, but oddly bonding the two together as the ultimate frenemies.
While Deadpool famously respects the unwavering heroism of Captain America, he also has a strong desire to impress and partner with Wolverine. The two worked closely together in Uncanny X-Force, and while Deadpool often resorts back to the life of a mercenary, during the X-Men’s Krakoan Age he eventually was accepted into the mutant paradise and allowed to join the Krakoan X-Force team. Little details have been revealed about Weapon X-Traction, including the time it takes place in, but it will involve Wolverine and Deadpool teaming up on a Multiversal adventure while battling each other along the way.
Deadpool And Wolverine Work Surprisingly Well Together
When the two aren’t attempting to kill each other, Deadpool and Wolverine make a brutal and effective team, slicing and shooting their way through enemies with ease. Logan’s ferocious behavior, which often makes him go semi-berserk, mixed with Deadpool’s nigh-immortal healing abilities means the two are formidable alone and nearly unstoppable together. Weapon X-Traction will see the deadly duo slaughtering zombies and taking down gun-toting librarians, all while Wade annoys Wolverine to no end with his incessant chatter and ridiculous behavior.
