Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 Appears On PlayStation Store With New Logo

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 has appeared on Sony’s PlayStation Store, revealing the game’s new symbiote-inspired logo and igniting speculation that a trailer could arrive this week. Fans have been patiently awaiting any update on the next entry in Insomniac’s Marvel’s Spider-Man series since its reveal trailer over a year ago at Sony’s September 2021 PlayStation showcase. While little is known of its story, the sequel will see Peter Parker and Miles Morales go up against Venom, who is voiced by Candyman actor Tony Todd.

As spotted by Wario64, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 has now appeared on the UK PlayStation store for players to add to their wishlists. This kind of move is usually done prior to the release of new promotional material and would align with a recent tease from Insomniac’s community director James Stevenson. As reported by Push Square, Stevenson shared a GIF of Peter and Miles’ Spider-Men standing side-by-side from the title’s reveal trailer, which led to fan speculation that news or a trailer may be on its way.

Across The Spider-Verse Trailer Could Also Bring A New Look At Marvel’s Spider-Man 2

Sony has recently announced a new trailer for the award-winning Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse‘s upcoming sequel, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, would be coming on December 13. This would align with Sony’s marketing for the PlayStation exclusive title in 2018, where it promoted Marvel’s Spider-Man in conjunction with Into the Spider-Verse due to both releasing that year. Both Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 and Across the Spider-Verse are currently scheduled for 2023, so it would make sense for Sony to repeat this tactic.

While nothing has been confirmed, it would make sense for a new Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 trailer to arrive soon. Miles Morales actor Nadji Jeter recently retweeted the game’s first trailer without comment, and actor Tony Todd spoke about his role as Venom recently, offering up new details about his take on the popular Marvel character after teasing “big news” that was later revealed to be about a separate project.

Many fans had hoped that recent talk surrounding the title would lead to a new trailer at a major event such as The Game Awards. However, Sony has recently been using its own PlayStation Showcases or State of Plays to promote its exclusives. Whether a fresh look at the sequel is revealed at one of these events or is shown alongside tomorrow’s Across the Spider-Verse trailer is yet to be seen, it’s good that the wait to see more story and gameplay for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 seems to almost be over.
