Marvel’s New Sorcerer Supreme Is Losing Control To Revive Doctor Strange

Marvel’s New Sorcerer Supreme Is Losing Control To Revive Doctor Strange

Warning! Spoilers for Strange #3 by Marvel Comics

Marvel’s new Sorcerer Supreme Clea Strange is desperate to resurrect Doctor Strange and is seemingly losing control more than ever in her quest to bring back the hero from the dead. In a new preview of Strange #3 by Marvel Comics, the current Sorcerer Supreme of Earth searches for answers about a gang targeting magical refugees, as she lets it be known of her dark past and willingness to kill to bring Stephen Strange back to life.

The Death of Doctor Strange sent magical shockwaves through the Marvel Universe as Clea Strange, his wife and the ruler of the Dark Dimension, took on the mantle of Earth’s Sorcerer Supreme in her efforts to resurrect the hero. As she tries to bring Stephen Strange back from the dead, Clea has been forced to deal with new emerging threats, including the Harvestman, an entity sent by Death to ensure the hero stays dead. Harvestman and undead heroes have battled Clea Strange, but she hasn’t relented in her quest to bring her husband back to life – even if that means losing control.

In a new preview of Strange #3 from Marvel Comics by Jed MacKay, Marcelo Ferreira, Roberto Poggi, Don Ho, Java Tartaglia, and VC’s Cory Petit, Clea Strange confronts The Rose about finding the Blasphemy Cartel, a gang who is targeting innocent magical refugees. Clea Strange makes a grand entrance, revealing herself as Sorcerer Supreme and Warlord of Manhattan. She turns The Rose’s men into snakes (who can only hear screaming), and when the gangster asks what she can offer for his help locating the cartel, Clea’s anger rises as she starts to lose control.

Clea doesn’t mince words, telling The Rose she’s the nice of the Dread Dormammu and the daughter of the warlord Umar and that she will not be making deals with gangsters “as an equal.” She threatens to turn him into a snake before saying it might be best to just kill him. Marvel’s new Sorcerer Supreme tells him there’s nothing she can be threatened with since the person she loves most, Doctor Strange, is gone. Clea has nothing less to lose and is done pretending like she isn’t the descendent of magical darkness, and with Stephen Strange no longer around, she’s on the verge of losing control to bring him back, despite taking on the more peaceful role of Sorcerer Supreme.

Clea Strange Doctor Strange

Clea is an incredibly powerful magic user, as the Sorcerer Supreme of Earth and the Dark Dimension isn’t afraid to use dark means to get what she wants. However, Clea losing control in her efforts to resurrect Doctor Strange is not the best way to bring him back, as the deceased hero might not be able to get past her dark actions when he returns. Still, that doesn’t seem to bother Clea Strange in the present, as she will seemingly do anything to bring back Doctor Strange, even if it means crossing lines she might not be able to come back from. Strange #3 by Marvel Comics is in stores Wednesday.
