Marvel’s Flash Is So Fast He Constantly Time Travels To Different Battles

Warning! Spoilers for Heroes Reborn #3 by Marvel Comics below.

Marvel Comics has shined the spotlight on Blur, their pastiche of The Flash, in the new Heroes Reborn series. The speedster is the fastest mortal alive and has such intense speed, that he accidentally travels back in time to some of his greatest races ever while he’s currently fighting someone in the present.

In the current Marvel Universe, reality has mysteriously changed as the Avengers no longer exist. In their place is the Squadron Supreme, who were originally conceived as Marvel’s version of the Justice League. Hyperion (Superman), Power Princess (Wonder Woman), Nighthawk (Batman), Green Lantern (Doctor Spectrum), and Blur (The Flash) all possessed similar powers and in some cases, origins, to their DC counterparts. In the current Heroes Reborn event, Marvel hasn’t been shy at showcasing those similarities – turning some of their own heroes into characters that reflect their biggest rivals. The event’s third issue focuses on Blur, a speedster who is so fast, he becomes frequently untethered from his current timeline.

In Heroes Reborn #3 by Jason Aaron, Frederico Vicentini, and Matt Milla, the issue focuses on Stanley Stewart, the hero known as Blur. From the getgo, his extreme speed is shown as he brags about having five dates on three different continents on the weekend, laughs so hard he vibrates through his own recliner, and that he watches most of his 46 televisions at the same time. He’s shown on a mission being chased by the Silver Witch, who absorbed her brother Quicksilver’s powers after his death. She seeks revenge on the speedster, who Quicksilver died trying to keep up with. After getting his soul split from him and dragged to the dread dimension, Blur runs so fast he becomes out of sync of time.

Blur’s speed is so absurd, he ends up reliving his greatest showdowns, as this time, he races past the Speedster of Vengeance aka the Ghost Runner. As he whizzes by his former opponent, he tells him he remembers racing him until his “leg bones melt.”

Blur would defeat the Silver Witch, regain his astral form, and drop her off at the Ravencroft Institute for the Criminally Insane. He immediately begins his next challenge as he’s chased by a version of Eternity. Blur might be originally based on The Flash, but in the issue, he shows he’s even faster – but to a scary extent. Running so fast he constantly becomes out of sync with time and himself is dangerous. While Blur might feel like he has control, surely reliving his greatest races might come back to bite him one day. Heroes Reborn #3 is in stores now.
