Marvel’s Eternals: Who Would Win In A Fight Against The Suicide Squad

Marvel’s Eternals: Who Would Win In A Fight Against The Suicide Squad

Introduced in Eternals, the latest cosmic team in the MCU is comprised of some incredibly powerful individuals. Even with the loss of members like Ajak, Ikaris, and Gilgamesh, the Eternals are still a strong team capable of fighting Deviants and stopping the Emergence. But if they matched up against the Suicide Squad from the DCEU, they may just face more than they can handle.

Even with thousands of years of experience and great individual power, the Eternals would struggle to overcome Bloodsport’s use of weapons, Ratcatcher II’s animal allies, and, perhaps most importantly, the ruthless cunning of Amanda Waller. While they might seem outmatched on paper, the Suicide Squad might be able to give the Eternals quite the fight.

Reasons The Eternals Would Win

Time Together

By nature, the Suicide Squad rarely gets the opportunity to spend much time building chemistry together as a team as they are forced to constantly swap members in and out as they die during missions. In contrast, the Eternals have been working together as a team for thousands of years.

This consistency gives the Eternals an advantage in this area as they have had far more time to develop their dynamic and learn each other’s tendencies so that they can anticipate their team’s moves.

Selfless Cause

Sent to Earth with a specific purpose, the Eternals have developed a selfless devotion to their cause. They are all willing to sacrifice their own lives in order to accomplish the mission, whether that be protecting humanity or ensuring the Emergence takes place.

On the other hand, the Suicide Squad often has members who are only acting out of their self-preservation, willing to abandon the team or mission as soon as it benefits them. If the Eternals believe that defeating the Suicide Squad would help them accomplish their mission, they would be willing to do whatever it takes to win.

More Powerful

On paper, the Eternals should easily be able to defeat the Suicide Squad considering the large disparity in their respective powers and abilities. The Eternals are a well-constructed team that is uniquely gifted with complementary powers and abilities.

The Eternals is filled with great action sequences that demonstrate their impressive abilities such as Kingo’s energy projection, Druig’s mind control, and Makkari’s speed.  Their powers give them a decided strength advantage over the ragtag Suicide Squad in the area of pure powers and abilities.

One-On-One Advantage

Thus far, the Suicide Squad has mostly faced off against massive, singular threats such as Enchantress and Starro. Because of this, they have been able to work as a team and combine their unique abilities to defeat a common foe.

However, while they can come together as a single entity with the Uni-Mind, the Eternals mostly function as incredibly powerful individuals, which would give the Suicide Squad more problems. If the Suicide Squad had to divide their attention across multiple enemies they would become much less of a threat to the Eternals.

Reasons The Suicide Squad Would Win

On The Same Page

Both teams grapple with issues of morality that ultimately lead to divisions within their teams. However, at the end of Eternals, there is still a lack of unity and agreement as members such as Kingo still believe that they should have let the Emergence takes place uninterrupted.

The Suicide Squad, however, work through their issues and form a united front as they rebel against their orders and decide to risk, and in some cases sacrifice, their lives to stop Starro. In so doing, they demonstrate a unity and cohesion that the Eternals never fully show.

Overlooked

One of the major themes of The Suicide Squad is the team representing the overlooked underdogs. This is embodied in the character of Ratcatcher II as she shows just how powerful and valuable the overlooked can be by bringing together a swarm of rats to take down Starro, using the sadder aspects of the Suicide Squad member’s background and changing it to an asset in combat.

This scrappy underdog quality is one of the Suicide Squad’s greatest strengths and it allows them to catch their enemies by surprise. Because the Eternals appear to be the more powerful team, they could easily overlook the Suicide Squad and end up getting caught off guard by just how strong they actually are.

Amanda Waller

The Suicide Squad is filled with dangerous weapons and powerful characters but the team’s ultimate weapon is Amanda Waller. The director of ARGUS is a cunning and ruthless manipulator who is willing to do whatever it takes to get the result she wants, even if it means getting her own team killed.

Given her intellect and strategy, she would certainly have multiple plans ready for how to take down the Eternals. Simply put, Amanda Waller does not lose and she would find a way to put the Suicide Squad in a position to win.

Leadership

The issue of leadership is one that plagues the Eternals after the death of Ajak as many on the team look to Ikaris as the new leader because of his powers despite Sersi being put in charge. As a result, fans never really get to see what the Eternals look like united under her guidance.

While the Suicide Squad also deals with some infighting between Peacemaker and Bloodsport, those issues are resolved before the climax and they enter into the showdown with Bloodsport as the clear leader. As a result, fans get to see the strategic and effective leadership of Bloodsport as he guides them to a victory over Starro.
