Marvel’s Dark Ages series lives up to its name, as the debut issue featured an awakened villain named the Unmaker nearly destroying the entire Marvel Universe. However, thanks to a group of heroes, the Unmaker was defeated. But, not before heroes such as Doctor Strange, Ben Grimm, Scarlet Witch, and more were killed in the battle. Strange’s last action before dying was to send an E.M.P. that stopped the Unmaker but ultimately hit Earth and depowered the entire planet. Now, Marvel shows what happened after the power went out for good with things becoming quite deadly.

In a brand new preview for Dark Ages #2 by Tom Taylor, Iban Coello, Brian Reber, and VC’s Joe Sabino, Marvel reveals that fear and hurt among the survivors turned into anger after the world went dark, as heroes villains warred with one another. Fights broke out across the globe, with battles occurring over borders, resources, and ideologies. In a striking panel that reveals that more than a billion lives were lost between the Earthquakes, loss of power, and wars, Hawkeye and Taskmaster lay defeated as casualties of war.

A group of heroes, including Jean Grey, Wolverine, and Black Panther sent the important message that “it doesn’t have to be like this,” which spread and resonated worldwide.
