Marvelous Mrs. Maisel Season 3 Teaser Trailer Confirms December Release Date

The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel season 3 teaser trailer confirms a December premiere date. Amazon Prime debuted Mrs. Maisel back in 2017, and the period comedy about a housewife becoming an unlikely stand-up comic immediately proved a critical sensation, going on to snag 8 Emmys including Outstanding Comedy Series and Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series for star Rachel Brosnahan. The show’s second season premiered in 2018 and was also heaped with accolades, garnering 20 Emmy nominations.

Given the the smashing success of Mrs. Maisel, it’s no surprise that Amazon is indeed bringing the show back for a third season in 2019. For season 3, the titular Mrs. Maisel is taking her comedy act on the road, with her aggressive manager Susie (Emmy-winner Alex Borstein) in tow. As previously reported, This is Us star Sterling K. Brown is set to join the cast for season 3, adding more punch to a lineup that already includes returning regulars Tony Shalhoub, Marin Hinkle, Michael Zegen and Kevin Pollack.

As strong as the cast of Mrs. Maisel is, many would argue the costumes and production design are the real stars of the series, and indeed the work of both those departments is on display in the first teaser trailer for season 3 from Amazon Prime Video. In addition to providing the first brief glimpse of newest cast member Brown, the trailer also confirms season 3’s premiere date of December 6, 2019. See the clip in the space below:

Prior seasons of Mrs. Maisel have benefited greatly from being released just in time for Christmas holiday family binge-watching, so it’s no surprise that Amazon is once again rolling the show out in December. That being said, season 3 looks to have more of a summery than a Christmas-y feel, as Mrs. Maisel and company head on the road to a variety of locations including Miami and Las Vegas, with a stop off at a USO show in the bargain. Season 3’s obvious globe-trotting vibe continues a trend that actually began in season 2, when the show left its primary New York City location for stops in Paris and the Catskills. Not only does the multi-location approach allow for expanded storytelling, it also gives the show’s Emmy-winning craftspeople a chance to display their skills, while taking advantage of Amazon’s increasingly generous budget.

The new teaser of course does not give away much in terms of plot, but it does promise that season 3 has the same bright and colorful look as prior seasons, and that Mrs. Maisel will once again deal with loads of personal and professional troubles as she continues climbing the ladder of show biz success. Fans who’ve fallen in love with The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel and its enchanting period feel definitely have a lot to look forward to when season 3 arrives in December.
