Marvel’s Cinematic Universe has become a force to be reckoned with on the big screen with heavy hitters like Avengers: Age of Ultron and surprise hit Guardians of the Galaxy. The MCU extends into the realm of television both on Netflix, with series like Daredevil and Jessica Jones, as well as ABC, with Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and Agent Carter. The ABC side of the MCU is continuing to grow as the network is developing a spinoff titled Marvel’s Most Wanted in addition to a half-hour comedy based on Marvel’s Damage Control comics.

In previous years, Marvel TV has had a significant presence at New York Comic Con, and this year is no different. Marvel brought both Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and Agent Carter to NYCC for their Marvel Television Presents: Agents of Primetime panel where Marvel TV head Jeph Loeb and Director Coulson himself, Clark Gregg, teased S.H.I.E.L.D.’s Inhumans and Agent Carter Season 2.

Marvel has released the Agents of Primetime panel video (above) sans a clip from Agent Carter Season 2 and the world premiere of the third episode from Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’s third season, ‘A Wanted (Inhu)man.’ According to IGN, the footage of Agent Carter Season 2 shown at the panel is a scene in which Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell) and Edwin Jarvis (James D’Arcy) test out the special features in Howard Stark’s (Dominic Cooper) “leisure car.” The features include, in true Stark fashion, a hidden bottle of champagne, a reclining seat and a mirrored ceiling.

In addition to providing some casting announcements and joking about the production schedule of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Loeb and Gregg took questions from fans in the audience. Here are a few highlights from the panel:

  • Bridget Regan, Enver Gjokaj and Chad Michael Murray were confirmed to return for Agent Carter. Loeb announced the inclusion of characters Whitney Frost a.k.a. Madame Masque (Wynn Everett), Dr. Jason Wilkes (Reggie Austin), Calvin Chadwick (Currie Graham) and Edwin Jarvis’ wife Ana (Lotte Verbeek).
  • Loeb said fans should expect “same great adventure, brand new town” from Agent Carter Season 2.
  • Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is currently in production on its 50th episode, which will be episode 6 of Season 3.
  • When asked if the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. will encounter mutants, Loeb responded by saying “I think we have our hands full with Inhumans.” Gregg said, “We’d like to talk to mutants, but they are in a terrifying realm,” and spoke about perhaps one day living in a world where “all the fandoms can interact.”

Between the cast and the footage, it seems Agent Carter is setting up a second season that will entertain fans of Peggy’s first outing, though may not necessarily appeal to those that found fault with certain aspects of Season 1, such as the show’s attempt at a feminist message. Still, many enjoyed Agent Carter Season 1 and the new location and new faces of Season 2 could provide another fun adventure with the SSR agent.

As for Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., the show is continuing on with its Inhuman storyline in season 3 with ‘A Wanted (Inhu)man,’ which will focus on Lincoln (Luke Mitchell), and the following episode, ‘Devils You Know.’ ComingSoon has over 30 new stills from ‘Devils You Know’ along with an official episode synopsis:

“Having reluctantly agreed to share information with Rosalind and the ATCU, Coulson and the team go in search for the Inhuman who is killing off other Inhumans, and May feels that Hunter’s mission to take down Ward is getting too personal.”

With Simmons (Elizabeth Henstridge) rescued from the mysterious alien planet she was stranded on in the Season 2 finale, it seems Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. will come back to Earth in ‘A Wanted (Inhu)man’ and ‘Devils You Know.’ Additionally, it seems May (Ming-Na Wen) and Hunter’s (Nick Blood) attempt to infiltrate Hydra and exact revenge on Ward (Brett Dalton) will be at the forefront of Season 3. Between the Inhumans, Hydra and the mystery planet where Simmons was stranded, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is certainly setting up a complex web of story threads as the show continues through episodes 3 and 4.
